Paid $4.99 for the 22oz. bomber at Jungle Jim's....
The beer pours a cloudy copper-amber colored base, with a large white head, 1/4" head retention and amazing lacing effects on the glass, a stunner. The aroma was rather faint at first, but when the beer warms up, the aroma makes its presence known. I am smelling dates/raisins, a nice whiff of floral hops and sweet malt; neat hybrid.
The taste is "one-of-a-kind"; when it first enters you think, "heavy stuff", and this may turns some off like a motor-oil-thick imperial stout. Thereafter, the hops sting your palette with freshness and the date-raisin-sweet malt flavors reacts to your palette, finished off with a creamy head making it smooth as is the mouthfeel; yet after 8 oz. of this, I was realizing how difficult it would be to finish it off; its a great sign of craft, but still limits the drinkability.
Final Thought: The label doesn't lie, this is a monster of a beer that receives valedictorian status! One of the best I've ever had...

12oz bottle from a sample pack, poured into a pint glass. Enjoy by 9/5/14
Pours a deep reddish copper with a large slightly off white head. Decent carbonation, thick lacing.
Getting a very malty aroma
As the bottle states, this is an aggressive tasting beer, a bit boozy at times. Malts and hops battle it out, hops winning early on, before roasted malts pack a punch at the end. Lots of carbonation & bitterness on the tongue, and the heavily roasted malts in the back of the mouth.
Overall, it's good, but personally, I much prefer the oak aged version.
