My review of this beer in the bottle is here: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/147/92/?ba=mullenite
Again a beautiful looking beer. Reddish-brown in color with a one finger white head. Lots of lacing all the way down the glass.
Smelled strongly of pine hops and dark caramel malts (lots of chocolate and caramel sweetness.) No citrus or herbal character, just lots of pine and earthiness from the hops.
Taste was similar to the smell, noticeable hop aroma and lots of chocolate in the after taste. Much different than the bottled version in my opinion. Very well balanced.
Medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Very slick mouthfeel.
Overall I like that tap version much better than the bottle, to the point where this is all I've been drinking when I go out anymore.

12oz bottle from a sample pack, poured into a pint glass. Enjoy by 9/5/14
Pours a deep reddish copper with a large slightly off white head. Decent carbonation, thick lacing.
Getting a very malty aroma
As the bottle states, this is an aggressive tasting beer, a bit boozy at times. Malts and hops battle it out, hops winning early on, before roasted malts pack a punch at the end. Lots of carbonation & bitterness on the tongue, and the heavily roasted malts in the back of the mouth.
Overall, it's good, but personally, I much prefer the oak aged version.
