22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy dark copper with a smallish tan head that quickly fades into a thin cap.

Aroma of piny hops along with some caramel, toasted malt, and dark fruit such as raisins and figs.

Taste is a nice mix of hop and malt. Piny hop flavors up front along with some toasty caramel malt. Dark fruit quickly follows and dominate the middle of the taste. Some roastiness again follows this along with a strong hop bitterness. The finish is quite crisp and a bit sticky.

Overall this is a top notch beer and a classic. One that I always love to indulge in.

Can't believe I never reviewed this beer! 22-ounce bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Deep red hue with a thick eggshell head that slowly settles. Head retention is quite good, and sticky lacing coats the glass. Very attractive looking brew.

S: Lots of caramel and fruit up front, with pungent, citrus and pine-like hop aromas.

T: This beer has a ton going on inside! Dark fruits and caramel like the nose, but combined with hints of spice and brown sugar up front. Hops are pungent, oily, and express notes of grapefruit, pineapple, and cedar. Finish is quite bittersweet.

Notes: Full-bodied and extremely flavorful. Even at 7.2%, it is quite easy to drink. Overall a very solid brew. One that I have bought time and time again, and makes for a good sipper any time of the year.

Nice reddish brown. Smells wonderful, sweet nuts, hop and something floral that I can't nail down.

Tastes much like it smells, but with a stronger hop presence and a slight burnt taste. The flavors spread around the tongue nicely. It's got a little harshness and some dryness, but that doesn't negatively affect it.

It's a strong ale, good and bold. Maybe too bold to be my everyday beer, but very good.
