A: A dark wood color, brown, leaves a nice off white head at the top that does not go away, and sticky lacing around the glass.

S: A toasty smell, caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla, a very nice smell on this brew.

T: Lots of barley, they are so evident they cover up the other tastes completely almost, vanilla notes on the tailend.

M: Meduim bodied, goes down very smooth, mid carbonation.

O: A great brew and so easily available. Definitely buying more of this goodness.

Let me start out by saying I am not a big Stone fan. I think the hops are normally a bit extreme. This beer is no exception, I tried grading very objectively and most standards its a good beer. I personally only recommend Stone Beer's in general if you love hops to death. I can say I won't be buying this one again.

I've had this many times and was one of the first craft beers I ever had. Review is from a bomber I purchased and enjoyed at Hawkeye's Restaurant in Perkasie, PA.

Poured and enjoyed in a standard pint glass.

A - Pours a deep amber/reddish color. Semi-translucent. Pours with a one finger head that fades to a light skim. Good amount of lacing left after finishing.

S - A hoppy, caramel-like aroma. Very inviting.

T- An aggressive beer that lives up to the story on the back of the bottle. A mix of a caramel-like sweetness from the malts and a hefty dose of bitter hops. I also get a fig-like taste. A really great beer. The alcohol is well disguised. Not a beer to give to your BMC buddies!

M - A medium consistency. Light carbonation. A bitter aftertaste.

O - This beer lives up to its reputation as a great beer. Simply put, a "classic" in the craft beer community. Highly recommended.

Cheers!

The beer poured a very attractive hazy deep amber/mahogany with a tan frothy, creamy head building about two fingers high. It had great retention and excellent lacing.
The smell is fruity, mostly citrus, with peach and pineapple.
Tasting the beer, the pineapple comes across first, with a mixture of citrus and peach. In the middle the hops give the beer the needed balance. The finish is dominated by more earthy, bitter hops.
Over all a very good beer, which is a must try!
