I've had this beer many times on tap, but for fear of coming across as the pretentious a$$hole in the bar, I have yet to review it. I finally found it bottled and decided to give it my utmost attention.

I smelled it first in the bottle because I couldn't wait, and my mouth is watering.

Pours a deep, dark amber with a pillowy off-white head.

Smells of huge amounts of piney hopsand bright citrus notes. If only I could find a cologne with a similar smell, I'd probably spend many a night home alone :)

Taste is sweet and bright with a powerful hops bite at the very end.

I'm in love with this beer. If Stone has a musician endorsement program, someone please let me know because I would drink this beer on stage every night!

22oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head that turns leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass. The aroma is very nicely balanced with a good amount of malt to support the hops. The taste much like the aroma is very nicely balanced. The hops definitely holds the spotlight in this brew, but the malt holds its own providing a very nice backbone. Overall, this is a very enjoyable brew that is extremely well balanced but features enough of a kick to satisfy any hop fix. If this were available here, I would Arrogant Bastard by the case. Highly Recommended!

Bomber into pilsner glass.

A - Deep amber color with excellent two finger head.

S - Hops. This was the best part of the beer. The aromas were strong and fresh and very unique.

T - Very good. Not as bitter as I was expecting. The malts provided some good balance. The taste was not near as overwhelming as I expected it to be.

M/D - Top notch. This beer had a great taste, good carbonation and was very easy to drink. Cant wait for these guys to start showing back up in Tennessee.

22 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass

A - deep amber color with a thick, cream-colored head
S - toasted aromas as well as plenty of hops. you can smell the alcohol a little bit as well.
T - malt flavor, a bit of caramel, but the hoppiness comes on and overpowers it. very complex flavor overall. i will have to try this a few more times.
M - medium body, surprisingly smooth.
D - when a strong ale is called for this isn't a bad option at all.

Had on tab at Tuskies in Leesburg, VA.

A - A decent white head that left a thin layer for th duration of the beer. Coppery red beer.

S - Hops for sure. That's pretty much all I can smell at first. Then as it warms up, call me crazy, but I swear I smell raspberry. Just a hint of it. Very aromatic beer.

T - The hops smack me right in the tongue at first and my reaction is "what a hoppy beer!" I wasn't that impressed with my first sip because of the overpowering hops, but as the beer warms more characteristics come out. Towards the end of the glass, if I breath in my nose and take a sip at the same time I can smell and taste a little bit of the raspberry. Notes of caramel as well in the aftertaste.

M - Nice and smooth. Not overly carbonated.

This was actually quite good in the long run. I was not impressed at first but the beer seems to wake up as it warms in the glass and breaths.

Poured dark amber. The menu called it an "amber ale" but I would call it something heavier myself.

You can smell the delicious hops from some distance away, luring you in.

The taste is strong, but not overwhelming. It feels great in your mouth and goes down smooth.

On tap and from the bottle, the Arrogant Bastard is always great.

Highly recommend!

Deep amber/red body, clear with a rocky head and lots of lacing.

Huge caramel aroma along with dried prunes.

Taste s not as rich as the aroma, but still excellent. Slightly warming alcohol if felt but not tasted.

Smooth, moderate/low carbonation and coating without being sticky.

An excellent example of the style, really a joy of a sipper.

Poured into a wide-mouthed glass from a 22 oz. bomber.

Appearance: A deep, ruddy, ruby-brown beer with a creamy, light head. It's INCREDIBLY sticky and foamy, and both the lacing and the head don't go anywhere. At all. Most excellent.

Smell: Deep, sugary fruits - plums, and mild citrus - a piney hop presence, sweet and toasted grains, and alcohol. Oy. Very pungent.

Taste: I feel arrogant drinking this beer. It's rich and full, and the grainy malts are both sweet and caramelly, as well as smoky and rustic. The alcohol is warming and pungent and its spicy presence is noticeable throughout the body. There's also an assertive, sharp, juniper and citrus hop presence. So good.

Mouthfeel: Pure heavy, rich, thick, creamy velvet. Stellar.

Drinkability: Maybe it's just the arrogance talking, but this beer is definitely a sipping beer, to be appreciated and puzzled over. I'm discovering new tastes and aromas as I take each new sip. Not eminently drinkable, if only because of it's formidable alcohol character.

A rich, complex, and satisfying ale, almost a wine in many ways. There are more flavors and aromas here than I can begin to count, and my grasp of the english language isn't firm enough to describe all the sensations this beer brings about.

pours a very nice dark red with a good tan head, there is nice sugary/caramel smell with some hops, the taste is fairly smooth good mix of hops and malts but there is a slight alcohol aftertaste,
mouthfeel no noticeable warming feeling from alcohol and seems to be a bit thin. Very drinkable alcohol aftertaste seems to dissipate after a few drinks and the thinness allows you to drink it very easily could be a very dangerous beer at 7%

POured from a 22 ounce bomber received in trade from Lothore months ago into a seidel.

A. Beautiful amber brew with a fluffy 2 fingers head that leaves decent lacing.

S. Complex beer. Nice floral hops and other hard to pin down aromas. Nice hint of malt.

T. Just as complex as it smells. The hops are foremost and piney/floral with a finish of malt. This is a complex brew that is so hard to pin down.

M. Medium body with a great texture and perfect carbonation.

D. Again, lower due to the abv and non-availability in SC.

This is a great and complex beer that I would love to try repeatedly and on-tap. A strong offering from Stone.

A: Clear deep amber with large light tan fluffy head that clings to the glass as it receeds.

S: Strong citrus, caramel, and some butterscotch. There nose is very strong and layered.

T: Bright citus hops hit you almost immediately as well as some mint, caramel (great malt backbone), a little roasted notes, some faint dark chocolate, and a nice slight tingle of alcohol that creates a crisp dry finish.

M: Creamy, crisp, and dry.

D: The flavors are layered one after another which makes me want to drink sip after sip to find more flavors. Not something to party all night with but nice to have a bomber while hanging out alone.

A - Pours a rich copper-reddish-brown, with a light chocolate colored head that had great retension.

S - Strong aroma of hops, bright and bitter, with a deep roasted malty character.

T - Dark and strong, the bitter hops bite at your taste buds first the the deep roasted malts followed by on hell of an alcohol kick, this is a serious brew.

M - Abrasive and lively, you know it is a strong ale.

D - This brew have a sinister side but good.

Poured a deep red/copper color to it. It has a big hop aroma, too, very citrusy and piney. These people must love using cascade, chinook or perle hops. It has a slightly heavy body, but is definitely drinkable. With your first taste you get the wonderful citrus piney hop flavor on your palate and then it mellows out and the bitterness flows through leaving a nice crisp finish. This is a very nice beer to drink and because of the big hop flavor you don't even realize it weighs in at 7.2%.

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a nonic. Dark ruddy copper in color with a thick off-white head. Tons of lacing. Aroma is chiefly hoppy, with lots of tropical fruitiness and a big dose of pine. Taste is again hop-centric, with mango and grapefruit chased with a numbingly epic bitterness. Malt is also in full force, with lots of caramel and dark fruit. This is a bona fide tongue-raper, in a good way. Finish is long, dry, and very bitter. Killer beer, only for the worthy.

I didn't like the smell or the taste. It smelled very pine-hoppy and tasted likewise. This is the second time that I have tried Arrogant Bastard from the bottle. The first was prior to learning about beer styles and their characteristics so I figured that I should try it again. Maybe it is better from the tap if it is sold that way.

A: Poured into a tumbler with a nice, dark red-brown color and good clarity(though as dark as it was). There's a decent amount of head, and it leaves plenty of lacing.

S: Fruity and hoppy with some malt in there, too. Tells of good things to come.

T: Maltiness for a split second, and then big grapefruit hops flavor that sticks around for awhile. This is very bitter, but in a good way. Celebrate the great taste by drinking more.

M: Medium bodied with a really nice texture. It has just the right amount of carbonation.

D: This probably depends on your tastes, but if you like more bitter and hoppy beers, this is definitely more balanced and easier to drink than most.

This is a brew, and a name, that'll I'll remember.

I figured this beer was named after Mike Hart, so I wasn't expecting much. However, the difference is this beer actually delivers.

Poured a rich copper color with a nearly white head.

The smell was rich with aromas from citrus fruits to toasty grains.

The flavor follows up with an even greater assortment of flavors. I don't know how they make a beer with such complex taste and avoid a food fight from all the ingredients. It starts with the toasted flavors, giving way to orange and lemon peels, and some mild pepper. There are hints of other fruits as well, such as Granny Smith apples. The finish is smoother, with caramel and some more bitter citrus flavors. Very intense taste yet still very refreshing.

I would expect such a complex brew to feel a bit harsh, but it's fairly smooth, and leaves a crisp aftertaste making you want more. I yield to this brews arrogance. I am not worthy.

Poured from a 750ml glass into a giant beer mug. Decent, lingering head with foam rings on the inside of the glass.

Smelled reminiscent of grapefruit juice, and some awesome.

Taste was exceptional. Nice and bitter, the aftertaste hits you like a freight train. Very very citrus-y, it's a good thing I'm not a fizzy yellow beer drinking nancy with false pretenses, chumps.

Mouthfeel was a little rough, not gonna lie. This stuff isn't exactly what I'm used to.

The first beer that I wouldn't be able to drink all day long.

The head on the Bastard was small. Body was clear and flat. A beautiful amber color.

It had an average, toasted malt smell. Heavy on the hops with some grapefruit in there. Light yeast.

On the palate, it had a medium body with slick texture and average carbonation. Long duration, a little sweet, some acidic-ness and really bitter.

Hopefully I was worthy of this one!

Pours a deep red, with a medium tan head. Smells of floral hops. The taste is very malty, with a strong bitterness to match. There seems to be not that much of a hop flavor though, most of the hops shine through in the bitterness. Reminds me of an English strong ale with more bitterness. Mouthfeel is rich, carbonation levels are low and smooth. A quite drinkable beer, that tastes fantastic. I really wish I could get this back in Oklahoma.

Very Nice strong ale. Enjoyed in my favorite pilsner glass. An appealing brew to the hearty beer lover.
A. Poured out a nice two finger head of cappucino colored froth that lasts the whole experience with faint but consistent lacing. Pretty reddish orange color almost crimson.
S. This was a hard one to pin down but hints of floral and citrus come to mind, a bit of sweetness that is more like sugar cane than cotton candy.
T. Robust hops and malt, almost felt I was taking a bite of the brew like a hunk of Squaw bread but more fruity hoppy tang as promised by the nose.
M. Refreshing and comforting to swirl across the palate with warm alcohol of warmness as it went down the gullet.
D. Very drinkable but not a session beer. I would not mind a couple of them over an early spring evening at home. A bit heavy but not as much as one might expect given its heartiness. Overall a good recommendation, but I still prefer the Stone Ruination IPA if I had to choose. Cheers!

Bomber into my trusty Alpine mug from the Moosehead brewery in Saint John, NB.

Cappucino foam-style 3-finger, latte-colored, sudsy head. Nice lacing. Lots of carbonation here - body is very clean, with a color that's somewhere between red brick, lava-lamp red and, for those Buffalonians out there, a slight tinge of Loganberry! WTF?! Looks a little more industrial-strength than expected, but a solid package nonetheless.

Aroma is soapy floral hops. That's pretty much what I'm picking up here. Not a bad thing.

The hops balance nicely in taste with alcohol and mellow, dark, caramel malt - maybe a little grassiness and sour cherries show up, too. Nice stuff.

Very clean on the mouth for a style - robust enough to sooth, tanginess from the hops and cherries for a little puckering sensation. Carbonation more present in appearance and does not detract from the mouthfeel at all.

This is probably a lot more drinkable than expected for the alcohol content. Has always been a favorite and still is. Extremely well done.

I have had this brew many times before, but I figured might as well get it down (as well as the other 1000+ reviewers)

A- A Clear deep red mahogany, copper color. An off white 3/4" head from a gentle pour. Left a decent amount of lacing clinging to the glass.

S- Smells of sweet roasted malts, with some alcohol heat, some piney hops at the end.

T- As on the smell, sweet roasted malts, well balanced with strong piney hops. There is some subtle caramel-toffee flavors, but definetly subtle compared to the strong piney hops. HAs a long lasting heat to it.

M- Full, heavy bodied, lots of carbonation.

D- Very strong and distinct beer, yet very drinkable. This is the beer that turned me into a craft beer enthusiast, so it will always hold a special place in my liver.
