A brief review from memory -- was drinking this while busy and didn't really have time to take detailed notes
Poured into a pint glass
A: Pours a dark black with a fairly stable creamy mocha-colored head that stays around and laces nicely.
S: strong coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt aromas do a great job of masking 11abv.
T: Very enjoyable. A punch of coffee early fades to more standard chocolate and roast flavors I expect. Alcohol becomes very evident on warming, and almost dominates the finish with burn by the time I've finished the glass.
M: A good body with solid balance of carbonation.
O: Very good for the $6-7 price, and a bit surprising at 11abv. Consumed cold could easily be a beer that would sneak up on you because the alcohol is very well masked by strong pleasant flavors, but the alcohol does show strongly on warming. Definitely worth picking up. My favorite thing I've had from Stone, replacing Enjoy By (4.01.13) at the top of the list for a brewery with which I've been rather unimpressed to date, despite the rampant fandom and adoration.

I happened to find four of these a few days. I am very glad I did because it is very inexpensive and already has a year on it. The espresso is probably a bit muted because of the age but it blends very well together. Some vanilla flavors as well as chocolate mix very well with the obvious espresso. I enjoyed this more than the regular stone RIS and I can't wait to open another bottle in 6 months.
