22oz bomber poured into a Stone RIS snifter. Bottled on date of 3/14/13. I pulled it from the fridge and let it sit about 30 minutes before opening. I love the regular RIS, and excited for this one.
A- Pours a deep black with a small amount of off-white or khaki colored head that quickly fades along the side of the glass. Some nice lacing is apparent along the sides also.
S- Not too much on the smell. I get some roasted malts and a hint of coffee. Otherwise nothing special.
T- The taste definitely makes up for the smell. Starts off with some classic RIS dark roasted malts. Notes of chocolate and coffee blend in there as well. The back end of each taste is like an awesome shot of espresso. The espresso is not overwhelming and works very well with this RIS.
M- Thick, chewy, smooth, and a great sipper at 11%ABV.
This is a great beer. This one is flying off the shelves in my area. Get your hands on a bottle.
