A: This poured an opaque onyx with moderate tan head.
S: It smelled like bold espresso and rich dark chocolate, with a little cocoa powder and pretzel.
T: It tasted like bold espresso and rich dark chocolate, with some smoky pumpernickel. It had a very clean bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was oily with a little carbonation. Nice slick body.
D: This was a great coffee stout. The scent and taste were strong, but balanced. And the finish was incredibly smooth with no alcohol noticeable. The body was nice too, so it was crazy easy to drink. Probably not for aging, but it's great fresh. Recommended.

Bomber purchased at FreeBridge.

Total blackness. No highlights. Topped by three fingers of dark tan foam. Spots of dark lace drip down the glass.

Aroma of dark roast coffee is front and center. Background features chocolate and dark fruits.

Taste is ...delicious. In more detail, it's deep roast coffee, a huge dollop of chocolate, notes of dark fruits, a big hop bite, and then a big Expresso finish.

Thick, rich, slick, like there's a river of Hershey Syrup in the glass.

Take a great Imperial Stout, add Expresso, and it's still great.

A: The beer is jet black in color it poured with a quarter finger high dark tan head that quickly died down, leaving thick wispy lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of coffee beans and licorice are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of espresso and a moderate amount of bitterness along with notes of dark roasted malts and hints of licorice.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This in an intense coffee-flavored beer that seems to taste more like espresso with beer added to it. The alcohol is very well hidden from the taste.

I finally got my hands on a bottle of this elusive brew.
Pours a solid black color with a decent sized tan head that doesn't stick around very long. Aromas of espresso, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, molasses, a hint of earth and dark fruit. The flavor is what was promised in the aroma. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a creamy silky smooth mouthfeel. Wow, that's a great stout right there! The espresso is subtle and doesn't whack you in the face like some other coffee beers do. Great base beer as always and the coffee addition is superbly done! Put some in a barrel!

A: black beer with a creamy, long last head that is fittingly espresso colored

S: A medium-strong coffee \with dark stone fruit aromas, mostly of plum. A firm roast, some chocolate and a light malt sweetness. Moderate alcohol sweetness.

T: The flavor is of a medium-strong caramel malt sweetness braced against a firm hops bitterness rounded out by medium notes of coffee, chocolate and roast. Some light plum-like flavors show up as well as some light citrus hops. The balance is fairly sweet with a medium finish and a roasty, bitter aftertaste along with some coffee.

M: A full bodied beer with a medium level of carbonation and some alcohol warmth.

O: Like caramel and chocolate covered espresso beans followed with a short shot of alcohol. Safely negotiated the coffee addition without the wet coffee ground character found in some many failed attempts. A beer this good and only costing $6.69, it's a must buy.
