This beer has a golden amber color it's a good looking brew looks very much like an IPA should. Light visible carbonation but poured with a thick off white head that dissipates into a thin broken skin. Thick lacing that really caked on to my glass was noted. This is a very sweet smelling beer. Hops, some caramel malt and lot's of apricot in the aroma as well as a grassy sweetness and some hoppy citrusy under notes. I pick up on some coconut but it is very much blended into the overall aroma. Smells and tastes quite interesting. The fruity sweetness balances the hop bitterness of this beer very nicely. This is a strong IPA slightly tamed by its tropical qualities. I really enjoyed drinking this thing. It had some qualities that i found quite interesting and I would definitely recommend it as something worth trying if you stumble upon it.

Out of a bomber into a shaker. 2013 so it was past it’s best by date a bit.

A – Poured out a cloudy, hazy yellow with a full finger of foamy white head that stuck around and left small amounts of lacing.

S – Piney aroma with some grapefruit in the nose. No sign of the coconut in the small at all.

T – Good solid hop bitterness up front. Pretty much like a Stone IPA that I know and like. Nice citrus punch with grapefruit and orange. Sweet malts. Creamy flavor. No coconut discernable.

M – Smooth and creamy. Appropriate carbonation. Medium bodied.

O – Good solid IPA. I don’t know if the coconut disappeared as it was not drank by its best date bit still this is a tasty, creamy nice drinking IPA.

Pour is transparent t golden Amber with a tight creamy head. Nose is aggressively bitter, citrus and grapefruit with some bready malt. Taste follows suit, a little less bitter and sweet, cleaner hop profile. Medium body and assertive carb, dry finish.

Appearance - a cloudy pour, a thick finger of dense, rocky foam. Lots of stick and lace, mmmm.

Aroma - grapefruit juice, slightly piny and some light orange. A hint of biscuity malt in the background.

Taste - malty underpinning, brief sweetness quickly washed away by pithy bitterness. Mango and grapefruit in the exhale breath, a challenge to pick out with the loads of bitterness in play. Green earthy notes mid-palate has me wondering if that is the coconut. The aftertaste and finish go a bit too medicinal for my tastes, but some lingering citrus notes offset it a little. Ends dry, a bit harsh, and at no time was I aware of any typical coconut flavor. Still, a hefty IPA worth a go for hopheads who like paying $7+ a bottle.

Mouthfeel - good and weighty, very fluffy with carbonation, fairly ideal for the style as IPAs should refresh and perk up the palate as the hops scrape 'er down.

Overall - with a more malty presence and some detectable coconut, this could be on my short list but I was disappointed on this one.
