22oz. bottle poured into a Burley Oak snifter
A: Blonde copper color with a great head on the pour.
S: Sweet citrus with lots of blended pine.
T: Weird pine taste that leaves a weird pine aftertaste. It would seem that the coconut flavor synergizes pretty badly with the pine notes. I'm not sure I would pick out coconut as a flavor if I didn't already know it was in there. However, I wonder if they roasted the coconut at all. You can only get a tiny hint of the coconut. I really wonder what kind of coconut they used, the stereotypical shredded coconut that everyone identifies as being the flavor or if they used coconut flakes which is more of the flavor that I get here and doesn't taste like what you think of as coconut, but tastes much better and isn't as strong and overpowering. It really is a big pine bomb.
M: Nice even carbonation that is quite good. Prickly goodness.
O: Like every IPA that Stone puts out, this one has a great smell, appearance and mouthfeel.
