As long as you have your mind set for "Imperial Pilsner" and not "Imperial American IPA" I think you'll find this to be superb, and maybe the best of that "style" to date.
Radiant, golden hued, virtually identical to Enjoy By in adjacent glasses (literally I'd be unable to tell them apart), clear, frothy, sticky head with nice lacing.
Aroma is pungent, stone fruit and mint, earthy pine in the background. That this is just a touch muted is my only real criticism.
On the palate this is exceedingly dry and bitter, super clean, the pine notes leaping forward with some interesting fruit on the edges. A solid, classically pilsner malt (almost a tootsie roll) sweetness plays through.
Barely a hint of alcohol as it warms. Medium bodied, but really well put together. Nice lingering in the bitter complexities at the finish.
Overall exceedingly more drinkable and pleasant than the other Continental Imperial IPA they attempted (14th Anniversary), perhaps not quite as interesting, but with subtle complexities and superb dryness and structure. This will be fantastic with a ton of different types of food. Could drink this for days.
Serving type: on-tap
