Bottled on January 23, 2014.
Seved chilled into a shaped Sam Adam's glass.
Stochasticity Project Grapefruit Slam IPA (what a name!) is a slightly hazy pale copper color. The head is thick and slow to settles leaving some nice lacing behind.
Aroma is fresh and full of grapefruit citrus. Candied orange peal and homey also come through.
Flavor wise, it starts off with sweet citrus candy but quickly turns potently bitter. Tons of hops and lots of citrus obviously but perhaps not as grapefruity as some double IPAs that are so only because of the hop profile. The addition of grapefruit peel in this beer adds a lot of bitterness and a little flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very bitter with just enough sweetness up front to give it some semblance of balance. Carbonation level is right on.
Overall a very interesting and enjoyable IPA. I look forward to what others beers come out of this project from Stone.
