Appearance: Light orange color. Head of about a finger on the pour and settled in to be very lightly present while drinking. Scattered random lacing on the sides of the glass. Light active carbonation.
Smell: citrus with a moderate amount of alcohol burn on the front. Pine hop presence picks up quite a bit on the body. Some grapefruit mixed in but nothing over the top. Light caramel malt toward the back end as well.
Taste: Lots of grapefruit right away. Surprisinged how clearly the grapefruit comes out on the front and leaves no doubt. As the grapefruit fades the pine picks up quite a bit with some moderate fruity hop tones. A lingering acidity sticks around thoughout drinking.
Mouthfeel: Bitter, acidity, and very sweet. Not in an unpleasant fashion but hold on to your seat.
Overall: The grapefruit really dominates this brew. Not as much in the aroma but it takes over on the taste and mouthfeel. Do not get a lot of the ipa underneath but some piney bitterness shines through. I'll try anything Stone and this was an interesting idea, glad I got to try it.
