No clue this was Stone when I purchased. Sneaky. It had the word "grapefruit" and I was game. Bottled 1/23/14.

Pours a very clear amber ale with a white as snow foamy head. Good lacing.

The aroma is very citrusy though there is a fair amount of maltiness as well. Pine , lemon, grass, and of course sweet grapefruit. Was expecting a stronger aroma from the name but it was a little subdued.

The taste is bitter on the initial tongue touch but not overly abrasive. Tangy, more citrus splash and a long, long mouthwatering grapefruit licking rind finish. The rind addition really shows itself on the aftertaste. Liking very much. There may be a touch of malt in there somewhere, but this definitely a hop heavy mouth salivating brew.

Nice depth on the mouthfeel. Pretty full-bodied for an IPA.

Overall I dug this. Would love to see it make it into the 12 oz. rotation. I think the grapefruit peel addition was perfect for us grapefruit loving BA's. Easy drinking for an 8.2% and I really didn't get any palate fatigue from this. Good overall beer.

22 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sugary bready malts and tropical fruit / grapefruit.

The flavor is a little sweet fruity bready malt followed by a pretty big resiny bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with light carbonation.

Overall, a nice IPA, but not as good as I thought it sounded.

Bottle share at Proof done side-by-side with Proof's Guru IPA blended with Apollo aged on grapefruit. Pale straw in color with very little head. Big grapefruit and orange citrus with some tropical fruit in the aroma. Taste is spicy/citrus combo with a fair malt backbone. High carbonation (despite little head) and medium body. I enjoyed the Proof considerably more.

22oz brown bomber with a freshness date.

Stunningly tight and sticky lacing on top of this hazed out pale amber brew. Big bag of smashed grapefruits rush the nostrils, hints of alcohol and hops within. My palate is simply being abused by the onslaught of grapefruit and hops, the alcohol is clean and quite warming. Some light bready tones underneath but the finish is just more lingering grapefruit and hops.

Slam? This is a Smackdown, thanks Stone for this one and keeping things fun.
