Notes/Commercial Description:
When Parisi and Stone brewmaster Mitch Steele decided to collaborate, it was essential that they tap a special individual to complete their triad of fermentation domination, and they found just that in Tonya Cornett, the brewmaster at Bend, Oregon's 10 Barrel Brewing Company. Together, they decided on a sturdy yet velvety base of imperial porter and developed a plan to celebrate the bounty of the environs in which it was produced by harvesting avocado honey, jasmine and calendula flowers (some from our very own Stone Farms) and infusing them into the beer to create something complex and uniquely Southern Californian. Consider it craft cross-pollination at its finest.

look: 4 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

A 4 - great tan head that leaves awesome lacing atop the dark brown/black beer, with a mahogany look at the edges where it thins out
S 4.5 - chocolate, vanilla, cream, coffee, real smooth
T 4.5 - same as smell - chocolate, vanilla, cream, coffee, milk
M 4.5 - nice and thick, alc covered, aftertaste is chocolates and cream. Feels like drinking suede.
O 4.5 - the aging of this for one year must have made it awesome. Dunno where the 86 came from.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

a collaborated imperial with a girly side? hmmm

eyes...
not quite pitch black enough to attract riddick, but pretty dark, some bubble columns noticed marching up from the bottom, the head is a construction of cloned micro bubbles that forms a thin layer crown, lacing is good, overall this looks good, nothing special but there is some saying about a judge and his book or something...

nose...
expecting a roast note or chocolate or some such... but suede ain't leather baby, there is a flower/honey note that floats over top of the dark chocolate, it also dabbles in raspberry/cherry tone, underneath is a chalky type of cocoa and almost biscuity, I can say that it is rather unique in this department, I don't think I love it but it sure is intriguing

taste...
the carbonation is almost absent feeling, it is this weird thing where you think you are going to get the prickly sensation and then it dissapears quicker than the crab legs at a chinese buffett, the honey really comes out in the after taste, this seems to lack the nice roast/dark flavors of your standard porters, in some ways it seems to almost want to mimic oak barrel aging, the flavor almost taps on vanilla but for me it misses the mark a bit, maybe a little boozier would help on this ? It is not that it is lacking in kick but something is off the mark for this taster

verdict?
the sweetness makes this really buck the style, and unfortunately I don't think it works, it is lacking the nice porter flavors that define the style, it sort of comes close in mouth feel but does not hit this 100% either. An interesting brew but I am glad I only bought one
