This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

When Meagan Parisi and Stone brewmaster Mitch Steele decided to collaborate, it was essential that they tap a special individual to complete their triad of fermentation domination, and they found just that in Tonya Cornett, the brewmaster at Bend, Oregon's 10 Barrel Brewing Company. Together, they decided on a sturdy yet velvety base of imperial porter and developed a plan to celebrate the bounty of the environs in which it was produced by harvesting avocado honey, jasmine and calendula flowers (some from our very own Stone Farms) and infusing them into the beer to create something complex and uniquely Southern Californian. Consider it craft cross-pollination at its finest.

Getting lots of honey in the smell. Honey and roasted malts in the taste. Not getting jasmine or flowers. Smooth, lower carb and a touch dry.

(Served in a snifter)
A- This beer pours an obsidian black body with a thick sticky meniscus of tan cream.

S- The creamy blend of black roasted malt and some leather notes with a perfume floral hint grows as it opens up.

T- Roasted black malt leads to a thin finish of roasted slightly astringent black charred grains. There is a dark cola note that lingers in the aftertaste.

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a scrubbing fizz and no alcohol heat.

O- This beer is a bit thin like beers with honey and not really rich like I would expect an imperial porter, but it has some nice light porter notes. The flowers might contribute some character but I didn't notice them specifically.

Poured on tap into tulip (in San Diego).
A: Pours a very dark brown with essentially no head.
S: Sweet floral notes mix with dry bitter chocolate and roast malt. Interesting...and quite nice.
T: Honey and floral notes hit first quickly followed by dry bitter chocolate and dark roast malt. Follows aroma closely.
M: Medium body. Dryly sweet and bitter. Fairly smooth and lingers nicely on the palate for a bit.
D: Overall an interesting and solid brew. I like the thought process and the balance of delicately sweet and darker bitter notes.
