Stone brewing; who would've thought that stone decor would be all over the place? overall the establishment takes on a rustic warehouse aesthetic with an eastern flavor and ambiance. the brewpub has 30 foot ceilings and open onto the beer garden outside with seating throughout.

atmosphere is laid back and similar to a winery in attitude. the space itself in entered from one end, with the bar straight ahead and a second level of seating in back, above the kitchen and restrooms. the patio and beer garden are to the right. the seating spills outside, with canvas umbrellas and trees providing shade.

service is friendly and prompt and quality is great. the waitstaff seems to know about beer, even if it is only about Stone brews. all beers are served in the proper clean glassware with many options and very reasonable prices for high APV beers (eight ounces of a 2009 imperial russian stout was only $4).

selection was great, with about one third of the offerings from Stone in-house, and the rest guest taps and bottles. lost abbey, port brewing, and others were represented.

food was great. the cheese soup was a must-have; extremely good! also, the fried mashed potatoes were excellent as well. very high quality and unique offerings from the kitchen.

overall, this was the highlight of the trip to Escondito for this BA. excellent beer, excellent food, a great atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. highly recommended. cheers! (1,437 characters)

No sign anywhere....only reason I knew I was at the right place was the large party bus that had "Stone or Bust" written on the side.

Did the tour, it was informative, but felt like it was missing something compared to other brewery tours, could have been that it was a busy Sunday, they sell out a few hours in advance. Got a taster glass and about 5 or 6 pours....worth the $3.

Beer - It's Stone, I don't need to say more....I was surprised by the selection of non-Stone brews that they had. Amazing selection, they need to make a hotel across the street (rumor I heard was in planning).

Food - Excellent, very broad range, picky eaters beware, you will either starve or expand your horizons.

Atmosphere - Awesome

It was an experience. (742 characters)

Stopped at Stone Tasting room near the stadium. Small quaint place. Servers were freindly. Small selection of Stone beers. Had several tasters, all of which were pretty good. Wasn't there during anything exciting on tap. (225 characters)

Where my IPA / Hops addiction was created. Love this brewery. If I lived in Escondido, CA; my liver would be shot in the first year. (132 characters)

Everything about this place is awesome. The only disappointing thing is the beer selection. It's good, but dominated by Stone's regular year round rotation. (158 characters)

You've got to go. Sit in the Adirondacks, eat a sampler and taste some of the best beers in all of California. I won't miss a chance every time I'm in SoCal. (159 characters)

A MUST visit if in the SD/Escondido area! This is a five-star establishment, one certainly for those "worthy"!! IMHO, try the humus and the yakisoba, paired w/ a nice IPA and you will not be disappointed! I cannot WAIT for the Richmond location to materialize....closer to the ol' homestead!!!! (294 characters)

Stone is the biggest brewery/restaurant I have been to thus far. Huge parking lot, huge space, but it is still quite crowded most of the time. Expect to wait for pretty much everything. They have a solid list of taps and bottles with the occasional rare treat. Service has always been good. (290 characters)

Frequently crowded, Stone can be a tough spot to find a table at. Selection is almost always above average (and quality - at least in terms of beers from other breweries), but the quality of the brewery's own draft beers is often lacking - especially relative to the price.

Service has never been stellar during my many visits here. Expect long lines to order beers, surprisingly unknowledgeable waitstaff (most of whom seem to be blindly devoted to Stone's offerings - or just brainwashed by the company culture), and the occasional odd issue with general customer service or even basic human courtesy (I saw someone with a legitimate driver's license clearly showing their well-past 21 birthdate get rejected when trying to order a beer because the license happened to be expired by less than a month; it's not like Stone would have been fined or anything had they been caught as nothing illegal would have transpired). I imagine they employ a paranoid GM who trains the staff this way, replete with suspect poppycock antidotes about California's governmental regulators "cracking down" on alcohol-serving establishments. I guess they really did commit to the whole "Arrogant Bastard" image - and not in the tongue-in-cheek way they might have us believe...

The pricing is quite high by San Diego craft beer standards; compare to Lost Abbey <20 minutes away. Food is quite pricey as well, but I've heard it's good.

The vibe is a bit sterile and impersonal. Stadium-esque parking can barely accomodate the demand. The crowd is mostly casual beer drinkers and tourists who have heard of Stone - or think it's hip because they saw Stone's fantastic marketing via an Arrogant Bastard bottle at Trader Joe's. But (of course) there are plenty of hardcore craft beer fans, and I'm always glad to stumble upon Stone's promotion of homebrewers at their many events - provided I can find a table.

All things considered, Stone World Bistro & Gardens is more for casual "I like hoppy beers" and "Oh, this is good! What's in this?" type drinkers than discerning enthusiasts, but it's worth stopping in on the way to breweries like Lost Abbey, Ballast Point, or even Alpine if you fancy a San Diego beer trip. I'm sure I'll end up back at Stone for a pint or two, if only to avail of their guest beer selection. (2,303 characters)

Stone's mothership lived up to the hype! Really cool place. Tour with Haley was definitely worthwhile, and Cherry was the best waitress I've ever had! Food was a little too "foodie" for my taste, but there was more than enough to choose from. Picked up a bottle of Enjoy After - which I hadn't seen on the east coast at all. (326 characters)
