The Stone tasting room is nothing short of the apex of the convergence of beer and culinary culture. The place is massive and gorgeous. The garden area is very kid friendly while the more formal dining area is swanky enough for the nicest occasion. While there were 12 or so Stone beers and a similar number of guest beers on tap, the Stone beers are all widely available. I would love to see some of their more limited beers available for those who have made the pilgrimage. While the beer offering may not impress serious beer folks, the food should - it is creative and fantastic. All-in- all, Stone should not be missed.

One of my all time favorite IPAs. Super crisp, clean and piney. Hard to believe it's actually a double IPA as it's very drinkable. If you like Pliny the Elder, you should like this.

We are in town for a poker tour, and decided to check out "hops highway." We heard so many great things about Stone, so headed in that direction. I've never seen a brewery that is so inviting and not just an industrial warehouse. We were not disappointed one bit. Check out our experience:

Love this place. Excellent variety of brews in a beautiful building. The courtyard is beautiful to mingle in while enjoying your brew! Definitely going back soon.

Nothin' wrong here. The whole package and then some. More excellent beer on tap than you could enjoy/explore in a week of daily visits. And the featured, special brews by various brewers they employ is a great treat. Believe the hype...they are that good. Oh, and you are not worthy...

This is the big-boy of breweries. They do most everything right - ample parking, although the walk can be a little longer. They do run a lot of tours through here so everything is on a grander scale. Nice bar area, large indoor/outdoor dining area with removable walls depending on the weather/season. Stones overall presence is enormous in the craft world, and this presence is notable in the Headquarters facility. A nice gift shop and bottle purchase/growler fill area, which is very crowded when the weekends come by and the tours run through. facility staff are generally very attentive, fluctuating of course depending on how busy they are. Try and find a seat at the bar if two or less people since you can eat/order food but your likely to get your brews quicker on an busy day than say if you had regular table service. The menu is eclectic, although a little pricey. Nice tap and bottle list. They do have a very liberal growler fill policy. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Has to be the mothership of West Coast IPA and not afraid to explore new beer options and push the envelop. The Brewery and restaurant is an amazing place!

Stone is an amazing place. After having visited several start-up breweries around the state of Texas and then taking a trip to this location, I realized what a state of the art place it was.

The atmosphere is incredible and their in-house restaurant gives the brewery a "high-end" vibe.

It was an interesting task locating the brewery because there is no sign on the outside letting everyone know that they have found Stone. If you are familiar with what a brewery looks like it will be easy to stumble upon it. The tour informs you as to why this is and is a pretty neat idea.

The tour was excellent and very informative. I feel as though the tasting room could be separated from the gift shop so as to create a less crowded environment and to make you feel as though you can talk about the beers.

Other than a separate tasting room, this brewery needs nothing else and is world-class!

Visited California and this gem. Located in a discrete building in an industrial park, it contains an oasis of beer and food once you drive a little way in. We took the tour of the brewery, one of the best of the many I've been on. Dinner was great. High end brewpub with nice outdoor seating. Would love to get back there.

Just got back from a trip to southern California, which included a visit to the Stone Brewing Company in Escondido. I expected an enjoyable time, and man did I ever get one! You'll need a GPS or Google Maps to find the place because there is no signage or advertising -- and that's intentional, according to the tour guide. Our visit included the brewery tour, followed by lunch in the taproom. The "Company Store" includes all sorts of Stone paraphernalia, mostly logo clothing and hats, but also cookbooks, glassware, sauces, and of course a big cooler full of chilled bombers, and a tap bar to fill your growlers.

The tour lasted about 30 minutes, and included a crash course in the basics of beer brewing. The thing that struck me the most was the general work atmosphere of the place. The people working at Stone seem to love what they do, and it shows. Our guide Justin was having plenty of fun, especially at the end when he got to sample the wares with us. We tasted a flight of four brews, including two standbys (IPA and Arrogant Bastard) and two new or limited release brews (Sprocketbier and Smoked Porter with Chipotle Pepper). We got to keep the souvenir tasting glass. The Stone folks were open to all questions and to just talk about the joy of beer generally. Overall a very fun time and positive experience. And all this for only $3 a head!

The taproom is nothing short of awesome. Beautifully decorated in wood and stone, with a giant "portrait" of the gargoyle on one wall, an impressive bar and open-air seating. The patio opens onto some nicely landscaped grounds with streams and pools, plenty of relaxing chairs under shade trees, and overall a sense of beer-focused nirvana. The lunch menu leans to the pricey side, with low-end stuff around $15 for some sandwich platters, and most items in the $20-30 range. The big-ticket selection was the bison steak for $39. Many (most?) items on the menu found a way to incorporate the various Stone brews into their sauces or condiments. I tried the artisan sausage platter, which was quite delicious and well worth the price.

If you ever get down toward the San Diego area and have a chance to visit Stone, this is a place not to be missed. The tour guide wasn't sure how to answer my question: "Do I ever have to leave?"

My absolute favorite brewery. Beautiful architecture and landscaping make it easy to stay here and relax all day long while sipping on a huge selection of Stone, rotating local and brews from out of state that are also top-notch; along with an extensive bottle listing. Be sure to take the tour for only a few bucks, totally worth it! You'll also get a few samples and a taster glass out of it.

Food is the only downfall of this place. It's good but I'm sorry, not worth the price! I'd love to see a simpler menu in the future. Aside from that I absolutely love this place.

The stone brewery is unlike anything I expected. As I walked in the doors I was in aw of just how fancy and extravagant the place feels. You immediately forget we're you are and it brings a whole new experience.

The beer is great, not to spendy ( about 5 bucks a beer). I am a sucker for IPAs and there stone IPA Blew my mind away.

The only bad thing I can say about this place is just how expensive the food is. Don't be fooled the food is absolutely amazing but like any fancy place, you pay a whole lot for what feels like not very much.

Kids are welcome in this place and and I like a said the atmosphere is great the garden is defenetly worth a look, we enjoyed this place so much that imidiatly after our first visit we made reservations for the next night.

Offers a modern, well lit, high ceiling building, open air patio and nicely landscaped garden area. Great place to invite friends and relatives, beer fans or not. Food very good, bistro style, with a broad range and some interesting off-beat dishes. I've had the Yakisoba, Cheddar, Garlic and Stone Ruination Soup and the "Stinky Cheese Plate" and all were great. It goes without saying that the beer selection is superb, ranging from Stone standards to special one-offs (the Self-Righteous variants are to die for). Over thirty taps, almost half guests. The guest beers taps are fabulous, but I rarely get that far after perusing the Stone ales. They also have bottles, including some vintage. I just looked at it online (I never found it necessary after looking at the tap list), but it is pretty impressive too. On a nice day, the outdoor dining is especially great. Really an ideal combination of great food, world class beer and a very nice environment, a must stop when you're in the area.

There isn't really anything bad to say about the brewery in Escondido. The tour was great, as they have a top-notch facility. The restaurant had great food and the attached to the facility had fantastic food and service. It not only had all of Stone's available brews, but had a great selection of craft and international beers (including one of my favorites: Paulaner Hefe). The gardens adjacent to the facility made for a relaxing stroll after lunch, tour, and tasting.

Hands down one of the nicest craft breweries in the U.S.A. Visiting this place is a must for all beer lovers. The atmosphere is the right mix of business and casual, you can see people walking around in flip flops or a business suit. Tons of local beers on tap from other breweries in the area, and the bistro makes great food. Several tours throughout the day with a tasting at the end. I try to visit this place every time I am in the area.

Went there when I went to SouthTown to see my bro. We got there on a Saturday afternoon. Beautiful area on that hill and the weather was perfecto. The beer garden outside is not to be missed. The beer menu is just stupid big and good. And the food was great. I had the veggie sandwich and it was good and HOT. But the main thing is the atmosphere. The garden outside is the ideal place to eat. Inside is nice but the outside is a world unto itself and just a get away from the hustle and bustle of California. This place is a must goto.

One of the best brewery tours I have been on, very nice guided tour of pretty much the entire operation, very informative about styles and how they make what they make, of course without divulging and big secrets. What else really needs to be said about Stone, their beer is amazing, in my top 5 breweries and my #1 tour so far.

Quite possibly the most overrated brewery in the country, Stone offers good to very good beers. If not for our national (and blind) obsession with IPA's and DIPA's, I doubt so many people would think so highly of this brewery. I must admit that their interpretations of barley wine are quite good, though.

This place is a castle. Well staffed. It's amazing. You have to visit it to see it for yourself. Images will not do it justice.

Food is from Stone Farms. Very tasty.

All Stone brews on tap as well as many other world class brews if you want to switch it up. Such a cool experience to visit this spot.

Even tho I am not the biggest fan of their beers I have always wanted to check this place out, glad I could finally make it. Atmosphere is simply killer all around. Inside has tables all over the place with people enjoying themselves, outside has even more tables, not to mention the gardens which are just spectacular. Quality is high across the board. Space has amazing furnishings inside and out as the food and beer are top notch. Service was a bit up and down. Initial service at the outside bar was a bit slow for my liking, after that it was more than adequate. Selection was great but nothing overly amazing. Plenty of their beers and guest taps to choose from, only a few I hadn't had before tho. I opted for the pretzels and mac n cheese for food and both were really solid. Also tried the caesar salad, it was ok. Prices were kinda high on some of the beers and nearly all of the food. Overall a great showcase for one of the biggest breweries around. Glad I could finally check it out.

Great atmosphere and scenery. The tap selection is spectacular as well as the vintage bottle list.

Food- Duck tacos were awesome... Highly recommend them. Daughter had the grilled cheese, I finished it for her and loved it. Wife got a giant salad that was great... The food was great

Service- spot on, on top of things and knowledgable

Beer- had a few beers... Vallantines Day IPA was terrific, 13th Anniversary on tap and a bottle of 2008 Imperial Russian Stout

Only drawback... There is no sign, and was weird not seeing that as we walked up... Wasn't sure where we where at at first... I mean FFF is 1/10th the size and has a sign

Wow, what is not to like about Stone. Went there with my family. First impression was one of surprise--it's located in an industrial park and in large commercial building. However, first impressions are not always what they seem. Upon entry, you first go through their apparel store so the encouragement to purchase something Stone is there. Next, you enter into the restaurant with a view of the brewery tanks through large windows. It's a wonderful sight at wets the appetite. Food is quite good, but the highlight it is the beer. Beyond the obligatory Stone offerings, there are tons of quality San Diego brewers on draft there too. Plus, other great California brewers including Russian River (yes Pliny is on draft). Retire outside to the beer gardens and you find outdoor tables, as well as chairs set throughout the garden area. I could spend days outside sitting on those chairs sampling all the great offerings on draft. A truly must see brewery when in the San Diego area!

Great place to visit. Open air restaurant and bar area overlooking large garden like area, simply delightful place. This is more than a brewery experience, its all that plus a top notch eatery, with very original and hearty foods, wonderful for beer pairing. Also, the beer list is excellent with a very very long guest list, more than I've seen at any other brewery. If you have to pick one place to visit, which I did, because I was travelling with my family and kids, pick Stone. Additionally, the service in the restaurant was very attentive, very good. Lastly, do the tour as well as a meal & beers. The tour staff did a great job and helped me out a ton. Had an Enjoy By which was so fresh, one of the best beers I've had.
