12oz bottle of the Opperman's release of BBPt5. Poured into a BCBS snifter today, 4/24/2014.
A- pitch black body, one finger dark mocha head. Good retention. Minimal lacing. Just like the regular BBPt5 in that regard.
S- chocolate fudge cake, roast malt bomb, oak and a ton of bourbon sweetness and flavour. This is really, really good. Reminds me of BBPt5 on tap as the bottles have less bourbon IMO.
F- phenomenal. Milk chocolate, chocolate fudge, sweet chocolate cake batter, and a ton of smooth bourbon that is incredibly flavorful and complementary to all the chocolate going on here. Some damp oak as well and a little bit of earthiness. This is great.
M- thick bodied, full in character and very smooth. The bourbon-forward aftertaste is what I want out of any bourbon barrel stout. Very smooth, a little heat to let you know you're drinking good bourbon.
O- this could be marketing but this is definitely different than regular '13 BBPt5 out of the bottle. This is more chocolate fudge forward and smoother in character in my opinion.

Poured into a snifter. Thanks, Corgidad!
A: Black with just a tad of tan foam. No head to speak of. Not much lacing.
S: Bourbon, smoky, oak, vanilla, anise, licorice. You can smell the bourbon right out of the bottle.
T: Mother of God, this is good! Oak-y smooth, robust. Like drinking from a bourbon/chocolate fountain. Cocoa nibs do a tango with Elijah Craig. Just terrific. Flavors enhance as it warms. Alcohol is not overpowering, but that 11% does take its toll.
M: Medium to heavy with medium carbonation. A dry finish.
O: An exceptional sipper. Savor this one. Highly recommended. Overpriced but worth it.
