Our most Aromatic IPA. An 8.5% India Pale Ale that is very reminiscent of the hop’s cousin in the Mulberry family. Lots of hop aroma with just the right amount of bitterness as we still like our balance around here. Between the secret blend of the most DANK hops that we can get our hands on and a "more than healthy" dose of double dry hopping, this beer can be announced to the nose from across the room that someone is definitely having a Safety Meeting.

Agree with another poster that this is borderline IPA in appearance (darker amber) and smell (I can't get much of anything, maybe a little orange). This pour had almost no head, and the resulting feel is sort of flat.

The taste is actually overall not that bad, some orange, honey, maybe papaya sweetness backed by a piney bitterness. There's a hint of alcohol, as well, but very light.

Overall, I didn't find this a remarkable drink, but it was decent. I won't seek it out, but might grab one as a change of pace sometime. (525 characters)

Pours a murky caramel color with a creamy yellowish head that retains decently. Smells of deep green hoppiness - peppery and sappy - almost savory in nature. Herbs, scallions, and toast. Taste is a balance between hops and malt...hops stay a bit earthy and resinous, but is rounded out by black tea and tangerines. Very smooth dark fruit and pine needles meets a little dark grain. I'd like to call this "malty", but there's not a huge amount of malt flavor or sweetness - it's more of a "dark" sort of hoppiness. Creamy body gives it a full-ish feel, leading to a dry, bitter finish. Drinks pretty easy for over 8%. Not the weediest beer ever, but it does trend toward the resinous, dank end of the hop spectrum. (720 characters)

A: medium amber and somewhat clear; got a fat head up front, some lace trailed behind - nothing crazy - but there was a solid layer of fuzz across the beer all the way to the finish

S: very aromatic for sure - some undercurrent of a chewy sweetness, but predominantly the "dank" aroma - a blend of deep, resinous and dark and citric impressions

T: the bitter hop resins assert atop a solid malt base. Shellac and citric pith rounded off by caramel-like malt sugar sweetness - dank and piney but crisply executed; carries a denser malt bill than many other "IPAs"

F: The body has some chew, medium-full feeling - 'specially for it to be an IPA - feels more like many IIPAs; nice rolling bitterness will wrap around the tongue

O: Has a husky, musky, piney, resinous character drawing allusions to marijuana, as being dank. Learned the expression, "safety meeting" lol - it's an 8.5% abv IPA - it carries a bit more heft and density than many IPAs, and draws some parallels to many IIPAs out there. A great beer in any case sure to please hopheads and potheads alike. (1,069 characters)

A great Double! One of the things that stuck out is the color. That perfect burnt orange haze! The smell blows your wig back quicker than a bong hit! The flavors melt together in a fused hoppy malt goodness that makes you drink the whole six pack in a hour! Tacos! (266 characters)

12 oz. bottle into a tulip. Pours a semi-opaque dark amber and tops off with a 2 finger head of sticky, off-white foam. Great tropical fruity aroma with notes of citrus and dank pine in there as well. Medium weight with a very creamy mouthfeel. There's a modest hop bitterness up front with notes of grapefruit. More pine creeps in middleways, and by the finish, it's an all-out pine/hop bomb with very little fruit left. Finishes smooth, and leaves a dry, hoppy bitterness on the aftertaste.

Overall, very enjoyable. This is a very well-balanced beer that turns out to be very hoppy on the back end. It starts out like an east-coast style, being quite fruity, but then makes a 180 and mimicks a Double Jack of sorts. No real trace of alcohol, either, which is nice. (767 characters)

12 oz bottle into a regular glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark, murky copper color. The head is a finger high and a deep off-white in shade. I'm pretty impressed with the texture, thickness, and duration of the head. Thick rings of lacing stick to the glass. (3.25)

Smell: This is as dank as advertised. There is a lot of pine, a lot of weed, and a lot of grass. Also, a lot of caramel malt. I feel that a healthy malt backbone goes well with citrus-devoid hop profiles - and there's almost none of that to be found. It smells like a safety meeting, what more do you want?! (3.75)

Taste: Yep, this is a weed bomb. There are some piny and grassy touches, but the marijuana is what ends up dominating. Another dominant note (unsurprisingly, given the dark color) is the malt backbone. I get strong notes of caramel, toffee, earth, and sugar cookie to balance all the pine, all the grass...and all the grass. Sure, I prefer light, crisp, citrusy IPAs, but this is really well done for what it is. (3.5)

Mouthfeel: Full-bodied, like I sort of expect from a DIPA. Despite the sharp bitterness, the feel is actually quite creamy and lush. This isn't very crisp, though - rather, this is a nice one to savor. Drinkability does suffer on the other hand, partly due to carbonation that fades quickly (at first, it's medium to slightly high). (3.25)

Overall: Enjoy smoking pot? Reticent to do so because your dumb stoner friend might give you some chronic and get you hooked on cocaine by proxy? Do you work for the gubmint and fear random drug tests getting you fired? Like IPAs? This is your beer! (3.5)

Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass out of a 12 oz bottle purchased at the Craft Beer Store in Dresden, Germany. Yes, Dresden -- couldn't believe I was seeing a Dark Horse beer over 4,000 miles from Marshall, MI!!!

APPEARANCE – Opaque orange in color w/ a thick light-tan head that produces wonderful lacing on the glass.

SMELL – Sweet piney aroma.

TASTE – Surprisingly sweet malty front that quickly yields to light hoppiness then repeating waves of malt and hop alternate as the taste fades away. Interesting.

MOUTHFEEL – Good wrap-around-your-tongue feel to it.

OVERALL – A rock-solid IPA. Not my favorite, but definitely an IPA that I'd buy again. (669 characters)
