Poured from a 12 oz bottle into tulip. ~1 month old bottled 2/14.
A: Almost self-illuminating amber-orange color with 1-2 fingers of head lasting ~2 minutes. Significant lacing retained throughout the warming.
S: HOPS! Its intense and enveloping. Pine sap, no floral/citrus notes at all.
T: HOPS! Very rich malt flavors, caramel, with minimal bitterness early that builds and peaks during aftertaste. Alcohol is pretty noticeable, especially as the beer warms. This reminds me of a hopped up barley wine.
M: Smooth and thick, its very malty. Viscous without being sickly syrupy. Carbonation is well balanced and in all honesty quite average. The thickness helps make sipping easier, and makes that 12% hit you a little slower.
O: An excellent DIPA, I really enjoy that something can be intensely hoppy without being a bitter punch in the tongue (I'm looking at you Stone). The caramel malt and viscosity help balance the relatively high alcohol content. Somewhat simple flavors that are well executed without being exaggerated - a winner.
