The pour spills a hazed deep amber to crimson colored ale with a quarter inch of tan cap that quickly obliterates in the alcoholic abyss.
The nose starts out with some nice fruity hops that are driven off on vaporous alcoholic whisps. The resultant nose is sweet and alcoholic and strangely cherry. It smells like red tootsie pops and booze. Fruity tones remain despite the dispersal of the greener hop notes.
The taste is sweet and alcoholic. The bitters and alcohol work well together. The cherry pings show up here as well. This one kicks hard, but never reaches a paint thinner quality. It retains a smooth character despite the brute force of its package.
The mouthfeel is heavy and juicy with no raw burn to cut through.
The profile here shows an ABV of 12%, but this 2011 version's label proclaims an ABV of 13.6% ABV. Just sick. So effing drinkable it is a nightmare for your bodily systems. This has one of those whiskey awakening kind of buzzes to it. Overall, this is a controlled fire that is so unbelievably consumable. Utterly delicious and ultimately defiant of classification. This brew gets better with every swallow and remains amazing in the cleanliness of character despite the brutal alcoholic undercarriage. Amazingly clean for such a poke. Potential to get a man stuck and staring...
I think I made a mistake dumping this down...
