Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Westvleteren chalice. No freshnss date on the bottle but I know this is fresh and recently released.
Appearance: Pours a dark amber, apple cider red with plenty of bubbles sticking to the glass. A half fingers worth of eggshell colored head takes it's time to rise, then fades to a splotch of foam. The head doesn't stick around too long, but this is also 13.6% (BA claims 12.0%) ABV. A small ring of foam clings to the glass. Plenty of light gets through this one, and a little sediment in the bottom of the bottle.
Smell: Delicious hops, very smooth, very grassy. A little piney, and just a touch of citrus, but for the most part, just grassy hops. A little sharpness in the hops, and just from the smell I feel like they have some bite, but very pleasant. There is also a bit of sweetness in there.
Taste: Starts out smooth and malty, a little sweet, and a little caramel flavor. Then the hops really hit. A very piney, very prickly hop flavor really takes over. The bitterness dominates after the swallow and lasts until I take another sip and then it starts all over again. The malts come out more and more as the drink warm.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation (both are very close to being high) The body is a little thick and syrupy, and the medium carbonation really helps without making this beer too chewy and sticky.
Overall: The alcohol is extremely well hidden. Hard to believe this is 13.6%. This beer is syrupy smooth, and while I am not crazy about American Double/Imperial IPA's, this one is top notch. I really enjoyed this beer the closer it got to room temp, and the balancing act between the malts and hops really came to the forefront.

Appearance is a amber red color with a one finger white head that faded fast.
Aroma is bready, malty, sweet honey. Faint pine.
Taste is sticky sweet, malty and bready flavors that are well balanced.
Mouthfeel is medium to full with a perfect bitterness.
This is a great example of a high high abv ipa.
Reminds me a lot of gorillanaught. I'm impressed.
Would love to drink this again!
