So this bottle is thanks to genuinedisciple!! Thank you!
Now on to the appearance. Due to being traded, the shipping caused the yeast to be unsettled. The yeast gives the beer a dark burnt orange. Almost an almond skin color to the beer. Barely any lacing, most likely from the high abv. Beautiful white head, maybe ever a slim tint of yellow in the head.
The smell of the beer is a little weird. With such a high abv the alcohol is noticeable. I do get grapefruit, but sweet not sour. Definitely some sweet oranges and some tropical fruit. Some hint of pine and resinous hops, even some lemongrass. Maybe I'm weird but I do get some butter.
The taste is a little creamy but bright with hops. The abv gives the brew a bit of sweetness. Bitterness lingers on through the finish. Not much to add here. Other than the hops seem to be fading a bit. Not sure if this brew is a month old but almost seems like it.
Mouth feel is buttery, very prickly on the tongue, a bit watery and burns a bit on the finish. Decent.
Overall this beer was quite a surprise all the way from having a 13.6%abv (not feeling it at all either, weird) to the burnt orange color thanks to the unsettled yeast. Definitely would love to try this again, but fresher.

A: orange, cloudy, good head sustained at half coverage, easily re-formed with a swirl of the glass
S: floral and citrus, but with a very earthy backbone
T: pretty much in line with other DIPAs, sweeter to start, a bit of alcohol burn (this might be a notch above others at temp). Sweetness is caramelly (making that up), but cast against a grapefruit back.
O: very enjoyable, and given it jumps the ABV even for a DIPA, might be well worth it.
Serving type: on-tap
