12 oz bottle poured into snifter

A. 4.0 Very dark tan pours with 1 finger of white foamy head that disappears over a couple minutes. Not overly carbonated.

S. 3.5 A large malt bill forward, lingering hop aroma. Clearly a lot going on here.

T. 3.75 Very similar to the smell. There is a lot of malt flavor, complimented well by a hop presence. Aftertaste of grapefruit and citrus

M. 4.0 Very smooth and silky. Thick enough to know its no ordinary IPA, smooth enough to enjoy with a meal.

O. 3.75 I'm glad I have a few more in the cellar, but I won't be seeking this one out again. I've also had the pleasure to have this on draft, and I have to say this is a very unique double IPA. A rare true Double IPA, with everything doubled except the water. Definitely worth trying in any case.

A - Dark cherry brown with an orange tint and a big foam head. Leaves nice lacing on the glass as it is drank

S - Citrusy orange, lemon, and pineapple intersect with biscuity malt, slight caramel and toffee. Floral presence and slight hints of the alcohol.

T - Lemon and grapefruit bitterness up front. As the beer moves, there is toasted malt, toffee, caramel, bready malt, and a light dark fruit presence. As the beer goes on, the bitter hop presence comes thru as well as a slight warming bite from the alcohol that remains in the finish.

M - Medium body that isn't syrupy. Low carbonation. Beer is slightly chewy from its nice thick body to it

O - Good and interesting beer from Dark Horse which straddles the line between an old ale with its biscuity and dark fruit aspects and a DIPA with its hoppier aspects.
