Appearance: Lovely medium red-brown with a tan head. Slightly hazy, mostly clear, beautiful!
Aroma: I admit, I'm BAD at evaluating aroma! Toasted molasses bread is probably my best descriptor.
Taste: A-mazing. When I pick up anything called 'scotch ale' I never really know what to expect. Will it kill me with an alcohol aftertaste? Will it be pleasant? Will we get along?
No, Yes, yes! =)
Creamy chocolatey malts sustain this beer, and leads to more of the same. Less like a quirky independent film with twists and turns, that leaves you scratching your head. More like epic Lord of the Rings style journey where you know probably how it's going to play out and just enjoy the ride.
Beautiful creamy mouth feel and body, very little carbonation.
I love Dark Horse, and this has me positively twitchy to get back to visit them!
