Poured into a tulip from a 12-ounce bottle.
A: Pours a hazy dark brown with a thin, eggshell-colored head that doesn't stick around long. Lacing is minimal. Perhaps too cold upon pouring?
S: Rich caramel with dark fruits, spice, and just a hint of alcohol in the background.
T: Much like the smell. Caramel and toasted grains up front, with dried dark fruits, some vanilla, and a slight toasted nut character. Finish dries out with a slight hop bitterness, and lingers for some time.
Big, full-bodied, and complex, yet without any harshness whatsoever. One would not expect this beer to be as strong as it is. Incredibly smooth, and quite easy to drink. Definitely a solid beer for cold winter nights. I'm really digging it!

Pours an opaque deep brown with a frothy, lingering khaki head.
Notes of treacle and toffee erupt from the glass, with dates and prunes adding complexity. Rum soaked raisins come to mind, along with a slightly savory, not quite soy character.
Flavor reveals brown sugar and caramel malt serving as the backbone, becoming nutty and toffee like in the slightly sweet finish. Underlying notes of muted prunes, raisins, and dates are welcome distractions from what could be slightly cloying malt sweetness. Cola characteristics emerge late.
Body is on the full side, with modest carbonation and moderate alcohol warmth.
Nice malt character, with a decent amount of estery complexity. Some may think this to be too sweet, but I enjoy it.
