Pours a dark brown in color with copper hightlights. Very little head, but I guess that's somewhat expected with the 9.75% abv. Alluring aroma of brown sugar, caramel, sweet malt and just a hint of raisins. The moutfeel is smooth and medium-bodied. Taste starts off with sweet caramelly malt. Brown sugar follows. I begin to pick up flavors of dark fruit (raisiny) toward the middle and a real light smokiness follows. Sweet malt flavors return in the finish with a very low hop bitterness.
This was a very enjoyable. The alcohol is barely detectable and makes for a smooth, flavorful drinking Scotch Ale.
