Poured into a snifter.
Looks good - nice brown tootsie roll colored body and small eggshell head. There isn't much of a head, but it provides a small halo for this lovely looking beer.
Smells surprisingly fruity for the style. I'm getting what smells like stone fruit, then some malt and a touch of earthy smoke.
Taste is good. A nice ride from the malt sweetness to ripe rasins to a nice bitter and smoked peat finish. This is really a great variety of distinct but cohesive flavors - one wave with many peaks. Runs a tad bit hot, but the aftertaste makes the alcohol seem like a natural finish.
Mouthfeel is good. A bit over-carbed for my tastes perhaps. Considering the high ABV, I find a lighter amount of carb makes the ale feel more substantial. But the right density.
Drinkability is average. Nothing really calling me to have another, but still a good one-and-done beer.
