12oz bottle from Whatsarezaf (thanks man!). Served in a snifter. No bottling date noticed.
Pours deep black with a wisp of mocha head. No lacing.
Smells of roasty malts, dark fruit, smoke, chocolate, coffee and licorice.
Taste follows the nose. Bitter dark chocolate covered burnt coffee beans, leather, dates, smokey wood and a mere hint of bitter hops. I taste a little booze but not near what I expect from 12% alcohol.
Creamy medium thick feel with mild carbonation.
This was an awesome extra in a trade. If given the chance, I'll happily pick up a pack or two of this. I have to assume this has a little age from the rich creamy feel and well hidden alcohol. Big, bold, delicious- worth a try for any fan of imperial stouts.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip. Appears a dark brown, nearly black, with one finger of tan head. The head dissipates fairly quickly, but leaves a ring around the glass, and has nice lacing.
The nose is full of deep roastiness and wonderful dark and milk chocolates. Not overwhelmingly powerful, but the notes are there (just too weak for me). The taste is again full of chocolate, some dark fruits, smoke and a wonderfully roasted malt finish. This is just what I'm looking for in a stout: not something that is overwhelming in one direction or another, but is wonderfully balanced in all aspects. The alcohol is very well hidden, and everything works together very well.
The mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied, with low carbonation, and a finish that isn't overly sticky. Overall, this is a very good imperial stout, with wonderfully complex and subtle flavors. This is also something that I can drink over and over again, not something that is so overwhelming that you're knocked out after one. Really hope I can try the barrel aged version at some point!
