a very thick looking pour, black like motor oil, with 1/4" of dark brown head which quickly dissipated. a sweet mellow campfire-like scent comes off at first.. roasted marshmallows, chocolate, subtle smokiness.. smells very sweet and pleasant.
MMMM! up front this tastes like sweet pecans, then the subtle choco-mallow smore reminiscent taste, a hint of coffee, maybe some macadamia nut.. this is just fantastic. something so sweet yet so perfectly balanced by the roasted grain profile of the stout.
full body with a very creamy silky mouthfeel, low carbonation.
this is an excellent stout. lucky enough to get this via trading, had no idea it was already aged properly in the guy's cellar beforehand. it is just fantastic, and i can't imagine what the bb version is like. to compare this to something else, think central waters peruvian morning.
