Appearance: Super cloudy and completely opaque orange hue with visible sediment. One finger frothy off-white head. Just about the dirtiest looking IPA I've seen.
Aroma: Floral and citrus. Not too much there. Some crystal malt as well.
Taste: Starts with a blast of bitterness that persists throughout. Very hop forward as the malt is barely present giving it a bit of a watery demeanor. The hop character is good though, pine and citrus flavor that is detectible despite the sometimes harsh bitterness. 6.5% ABV almost seems heavy for how light this beer seems on malt flavor (there is a hint of caramel though).
Mouthfeel: Between thin and medium in body with above average carbonation and good drinkability.
Final Thoughts: I consider myself a connoisseur of IPAs and while Crooked Tree is able to scratch the hophead itch in me, it doesn't elicit any of the real good hop flavor and balance that others of the style can deliver. That being said, I'd recommend it if you can find it. Would I drink it again? Sure.

huge head. foamy and white.
typical IPA aromas, but nothing stand-out. kind of a bland smell to the brew....
a little sweet on the tongue at first, then some caramel malt, and the slight hop bitterness hits as it drains.... very good taste with some sweetness.
overall, very good. another new Midwest brew for me. lots of taste (as opposed to the west coast bitter) but starting to see a definite trend... maybe that's why the west coast began doing bitter....?
