Bottle into snifter. Wondering if it was an old, bad or poorly handled bottle after reading some other reviews (following taking notes on my sample), due to some significant differences in my experience and that of others. here goes:
Pours cloudy pale orange with only the faintest hint of a head. Nothing to retain, so no retention. A little spotty lacing.
Rich and malty with pungent grapefruity hop aroma. Not very complex but pleasant.
Follows the nose, basically. Sweet and malty with modest grapefruity hop flavor. Hop flavor is subdued and not even remotely bitter.
Lightly carbonated, but smooth and slightly creamy. On the thin side. Clean finish. not complex but balanced.
Easy enough to drink but doesn't stand out as special in any way. Pretty timid, but enjoyable enough. Still wondering if this was old or otherwise compromised based on lack of any head and very subdued hop profile with no bitterness.
