Inspired by West Coast I.P.A.'s, but brewed with Michigan style. The Crooked Tree is heavily dry hopped to give it a big aroma of pine and citrus. The flavors are big, yet very balanced between fresh hops and malt. Often described as "grapefruit" our hops give this beer an excellent fruit flavor that finishes dry.

A - A deep bronze-y orange body with lots of haziness to it...the head was white and stood a creamy one finger...particles are suspended everywhere in the body...nice lacing
S - The hops dominate and I love it...a big dose of pine needles mixed with sweet citrus (grapefruit, orange, and lemon)
T - The flavor profile is just the nose enhanced...again the hops dominate but the malts are not totally out of the picture...the malts add to the sweetness of the citrus hops...the citrus hops are really bright and sweet...flavors of grapefruit and lemon really shine through...maybe a little bit of orange zest...the piney hops provide that sharp bitterness that is expected...it's not too harsh and has the right amount of resin provided
M - Medium bodied...slick, creamy, resiny, bitter...just solid all around
D - I was really impressed with this IPA...I'm glad it came to PA and it's here to stay...this is now one of my favorite IPA's and I'm sure it's just a tad better on tap

Beautiful pour, lots of floaties in this unfiltered beer. Cloudy, thick amber body capped by a nice creamy off white head. Lots of sediment in the bottle, wish I noted the "unfiltered" sooner so I could have saved a bit at the bottom for a final swirl. Still squarely in the East Coast IPA family, mildly bitter, but also fairly malty. Tastes, great, looks great, finishes well.

12oz can
it’s been years since I’ve seen this one anywhere around here
L: slightly hazed amber body; persistent, foamy, beige head slowly fades
S: caramel malt, grain, pine, citrus
T: just as good as I remember; old school IPA flavors: caramel, bread crust, and grain malt backbones met with pungent earthy pine, zesty grapefruit & orange, along with a slight herbalness
F: resinous & sticky bitterness, moderate carbonation, pungently bitter with pine lingering on the dry finish
O: better than I remember it being!

Unfiltered hazy amber color. Minimal head ringing the glass, but lacing the glass nicely. No grapefruit taste as some have implied, but hint of citrus on the nose. Bitter with a clean finish.

The pour is a dark & murky orange. On the aroma i'm picking up some tangy citrus, slight malt bill, & some slight herbal & tea notes as well. The taste follows the nose along with some piney bitterness that shows itself more towards the finish. Cheers! B
