12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass. Purchased locally as a single ($1.79). No freshness data. Newer label design.

A: Opaque gold/amber; many small, suspended particles; 1" creamy head that settles slowly and leaves a solid, thin layer of lacing.

S: Yeasty, with faint fruit.

T: Initial fruit, w/ sourness; biscuit, followed up by strong, blunt bitterness that lingers.

M: Medium/heavy body and light/medium carbonation, dry finish; no alcohol presence.

O: Not so good. This bottle must have been past its prime.

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber with a finger of fluffy off white head. There is some good retention and decent lacing.

Smell: This is a rather sweet smelling IPA with lots of malt and some citrus fruit notes. Not a whole lot of strong hop bitterness showing up but still smells nice.

Taste: More hoppy than the smell, but still quite sweet. The malt is quite apparent up front, but the citrus peel hop bitterness ramps up through the whole sip. Wish it were a bit more balanced throughout the whole sip.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with aggressively tingly carbonation and an extremely dry finish.

Overall: This is a solid IPA, but I would have liked the balance to be a bit better. I might have another if I ever see it on-tap.

Undated brown bottle into tulip glass.

Nose: Very hoppy. Plenty of pine. Crisp malt backbone that's lightly sugary.

Appearance: Rusty orange with an ok head that has pretty good retention. Pretty murky

Taste: Really nice. Sweet, crisp malts transition perfectly to the taste of a slightly overbaked sugar cookie. then the deep, green, earthy hops finish it off. Excellent balance. Very clean.

Overall: An outstanding example of the style.

Pours an amber color with a good size off white head. The head is dense and leaves some spotty lacing about the glass. Carbonation was light.
Aroma has some hops and some cararmel malts and some low levels of diacetyl.
Taste is similar to the nose lightly hopped and with a bigger caramel malt backbone and low levels of diacetyl.
Drinks with a medium weight on the palette smooth with a soft finish. Clean and no aftertaste.
Something is going on here because according to the website and the reviews here on the BA this is a west coast style IPA. But to me this is more of an English IPA. Lightly hopped sweet caramel malts and diacetyl contributing a butterscotch taste all scream English. In any event it's good no matter what.
