Finally got to try this at Capone's for the end of PBW. Poured into a snifter the chocolate brown head dissipated quickly leaving no head to speak of, but major alcohol legs were present with each swirl of the glass. Smell on this was great. I must have looked like a junkie with the deep inhales I kept finding myself taking. Lots of deep roast espresso, dark chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste was even better. The integration of the bourbon into the base beer was exceptionally well done. This beer was exceptionally well balanced with great bourbon flavors present, but at no point did it overwhelm the stout. Nice coffee, roasted malt, and smooth bourbon on the tongue, with a great charred oak character right there. Vanilla became ever more present as the glass warmed up. I also got a hint of campfire type marshmallow. All of this had a great coating effect on the palate. I could drink this all the time. Definitely worthy of seeking out, and making efforts to go to tasting events to get a chance to try. Highly Recommended!

Appearance is pitch black with not even a half finger of brown head that left quickly.
Aroma is oak, vanilla and just enough bourbon. Slight chocolate covered dark fruit.
Taste is so complex. Where do I start. Up front is bourbon and toasted oak. In the middle it's chocolate covered cherries and dark chocolate. At the end its light roasted coffee and baking chocolate. No hint of alcohol AT ALL.
Mouthfeel is so thick and rich. It's like a milkshake. The lingering chocolate bitterness puts is beer on another level. Probably the most chocolate I've ever detected in a beer.
So glad I have a couple more of these.

2012 vintage Served in spiegelau snifter*
A - Black as night, just under a fingers width of head, decent lacing
S - Bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, char, oak… vanilla pops as it warms. As it warms greater bourbon and tobacco start to come through. Getting closer to room temp the dark fruits like cherry come through.
T - Chocolate, char, roast, bourbon, coffee...espresso aftertaste, even further aftertaste is dark belgian chocolate. As this warms it's getting better… Chocolate covered dark fruits start to come through… did I say espresso yet… damn this is good. No need to refrigerate this one… drink at room temp and you will get all the flavors your looking for. As you get closer to room temp tobacco comes through. This is the best natural chocolate taste you get from a beer due purely to a well balanced grain bill.
M - Smooth, velvety, rich but not overbearing at any point in time.
O - Perfect on a cool summer night… I want a case of this right now so I can drink it every time I get a fire going in the backyard. When I took my first sip after pulling out of the fridge I was a bit disappointed. DO NOT RUSH THIS ONE. Let it warm up and you will be blessed with an amazing beer. This is so drinkable for 11%
