A- About as black as a beer can get; pours like dirty engine oil. Sufficient beige head with purplish highlights.

S- Wow. If you liquefied a blueberry muffin and bottled it, this is what it would smell like. There's a slight hint of herbal hops, but the blueberries completely dominate. Awesome if you like blueberries, but may scare off more timid beer drinkers.

T- As dominant as the blueberries are in the aroma, they're conspicuously absent in the flavor. Roast flavors come to the forefront with hints of coffee and licorice. You really don't find any hop flavors, but the bitterness is sufficient to keep the beer from being sweet. The finish is astringent and somewhat dry, and you catch a hint of the raspberries then, but otherwise it's dark, roasty stout all the way.

M- The highly fermentable sugars from the raspberries seem to have thinned out the beer somewhat.

D- Not sure why, but it drinks a bit full for a 4.5% beer.

Overall: An interesting beer. The aroma is very misleading, but I think that's a good thing as I wouldn't want a beer to taste like a blueberry muffin. That being said, I think a little more malt sweetness would bring out a little raspberry flavor which would be sufficiently balanced by the roast malts.

Pours a nice 2 finger dark chocolate head. Body is pitch black with no light escaping. Head retention was surprisingly quickly diminished and lacing was above average.

Smells of freshly blended blueberries. Surprised that the blueberries smelled so fresh and not too sweet or artificial. Other aromas are of dark semi sweet chocolate, roasted espresso, and bits of smoked malt. Hops are nowhere to be found and alcohol is hidden well for a stout almost 8%.

Taste is bits of chocolate covered blueberries mixed with a smoked porter. Charred oak and some coffee cut the fruity sweetness. Light bitterness is in the aftertaste and alcohol is barely detected.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied but with a good amount of carbonation. Head died pretty fast, wish it stuck around to cut the carbonation.

Overall this beer was pretty good. Never had a blueberry stout before and I was pleasantly surprised. Extremely drinkable, wish it was available in my region.

A really nice, light tasting, stout. Mild amounts of blueberry flavors. Mild alcohol presence. Medium amount of sweetness. But so well balanced that it just drinks so well. To me, not as full bodied as it claims, but that's ok. It's nice to have a light, fruity stout that goes down smoothly. My second beer (regular Pt5 was the first) from this brewery. And I'm not disappointed so far. Very nice.

Bottle poured into a stone snifter.

Looks thin, but has rather low ABV for a stout so that is understandable. Has a good smell - nice roasty notes, with some light chocolate and lots blueberry. Taste has less blueberry than the nose but it still very present and makes for a solid brew. Fairly well balanced but needs a little more body IMO.

Bottle purchased from Nathaniel Square Corner Store.

Pours dark black, opaque, with a 2 inch light mocha colored head, and good lacing down the glass.

Smells include chocolate, roasted malt, and blueberries.

This stout has a wonderful dry roasted malt flavor, with lots of bitter dark chocolate. The blueberries are subtle and not overpowering, providing a little bit of sweetness and very mild tartness. Even without the blueberries, this would be an outstanding stout- the roasted character is perfect. The blueberry flavor and aroma get stronger and sweeter as the beer warms, without ever getting cloying.

Medium to full body, very drinkable, scary drinkable, actually. No alcohol presence.

An amazing stout, Dark Horse continues to impress me.
