Appearance – This beer pours an amber color with a light tan head. The head is dense after the pour but the retention is limited.
Smell – The beer has a heavy biscuit smell with a strong caramel overtone.
Taste – This beer is interesting with a Belgian amber driving force but the bread, caramel and toffee notes come through with a dry finish.
Mouthfeel – A dry beer that seems a little harsh for a kolsch.
Overall – I was a little leery seeing a can of Carling Black Label on the label. A solid beer. This is not what I feel a traditional klosch beer should be like but then again, they are claiming it is a Polish klosch so who am I to argue. I would buy this one again but since it is on a rotating basis who knows when I will see it again.
