No bottled on date on the neck or the label.
A: A slow pour into a standard pint glass produced about a quarter-finger of a mahogany colored head. The head dissipated fairly quickly to a thin layer and then lasted for the remainder of the glass, but did not leave any lacing. The beer poured almost like syrup and was midnight black.
S: The aroma was rich and full consisting of sweet malt, sweet dried figs and prunes, dark roasted coffee, and some peat like smokiness.
T: The taste was very sweet but not at all cloying. The flavors of malted barley and cream and strong coffee combined with some toasted barley bitterness and some peat-like smokiness for balance. The taste was not as complex as the aroma.
M: This beer had a very heavy and satisfying body. It is also smooth and has a very clean finish.
O: This was a very flavorful stout. And, for fans of smoky tasting beers, this one really delivers on the smokiness along with an outstanding stout. It had a very appealing malt sweetness that was balanced by a dark roasted bitterness that resulted in a coffee and cream quality. And, all of this was enhanced by a touch of peat smoke that added a pleasing level of complexity.

Notes: Born on 1/21/14 (current date 6/20/14).
A: pours an oily black and looks thick as it glub glubs out of the bottle. There was a 1/2 finger brawn head that receded quickly to a thin layer.
S: Not getting a lot on the nose.
T: Smokey coffee flavor up front. With a smoke aftertaste.
M: A bit of tingle from the carbonation. Not think or chewy like I anticipated from the pour.
O: This is kind of one note. The smoke is smothering anything more complex. I know it is a smoked stout - so that should be the expectation - but I hoped for some other flavors somewhere in the palate. It is decent tasting but lacks a strong nose and depth int he taste.
