640ml bottle. So, the Koreans have come around to the 'Ice' beer concept, years after we (mostly) let it pass into beer lore around here.
This beer pours a clear, bright pale golden straw colour, with three chubby fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and generally bubbly bone-white head, which leaves a few instances of splattered paint lace around the glass as it rashly dissolves.
It smells of sharp, musty corn grits, dry rice, phenolic yeast, red apple skins, and a disintegrating, almost rusty metallic character. The taste is more mixed and matched corn and rice manifestations, wet, high-quality paper (don't know how I know that!), stale apple juice, flinty minerals, and some verging on skunky, but teetering on the precipice, leafy, weedy hops.
The carbonation is more or less purely frothy, the body just off of a standard medium weight, and actually pretty smooth, an airy creaminess aiding and abetting the cause. It finishes off-dry, the sweetness of the corn/rice Frankenstein not to be denied.
Meh - nothing particularly offensive here, once you get past the typical malt bill inanity. No real off-flavours, some banal fruitiness, and Bob's your uncle, the Ice Point Filtration System appears to have done its job, which if I'm correct, is only in making for an acceptable mouthfeel. Baby steps, I suppose.

330ml bottle poured into pint glass 4/7/14
A clear straw yellow, a few big bubbles here and there, a short lived finger of foam leaves no lace
S corn, paper, and tin can, not much of anything really
T metallic, stops short of skunk but has a off flavor, not much going on and what's there isn't very good
M watery, enough bubbles to give it some life, cardboard on the finish
O not overly offensive but nothing worth trying, missed the mark
I thought it might be a county tic but I already had the regular Hite so I'm even more let down now

Bottle received in trade, labeled as Hite Ice Point
Pours a crystal clear medium straw color with a huge bubbly bone white head that quickly recedes to a cap on top. Smells quite grainy with hints of skunk and some faint spicy earthy hop aromas. Not a lot going on in the aroma here. The flavor is very light apple with hints of grain and little to no hop flavor with a light hop bitterness. Light body with a moderate to high level of carbonation. Quite light and watery; Not horrible, but somewhat devoid of much flavor. Drinkable but that's about it.

Pours a finger of head on a clear golden colored body. Low head retention.
The aroma is stale white rice. Not great, not good.
The taste starts mildly sweet and becomes increasingly sweet to the finish. Not enjoyable.
The texture is crisp with sticky edges. Moderate carbonation but still fizzy.

On the plus side, this beer doesn't have a lot going for it other than there are no " bad" flavors. Does seem to be fresh. It's in a can, so no light struck problems. On the down side- no head or lace. Thin, fizzy. Corn flavors and aromas. Zero complexity. The odd thing is trying to calculate its worth. I've seen bottle water that is selling for more than what I believe this to be worth- at least in my low cost of living home town.

this is the least impressive of the three hite beers i had today. an ice beer type, smoother than a lot of american ones, but still that awful metallic funk on the back end and nakedly exposed alcohol that make these all the same in some way. hard to believe for a beer under 5%, but it has absolutely no flavor to mask it. pale yellow in color, not real different in looks from the dry finish version, maybe a little less heady. nose like an aluminum can and some adjunct extract type malt profile, typical yellow beer stuff. not to be critical unfairly though, this is one of the finer low budget ice beers ive had, which isnt saying much, but it is a testament to the quality control over in korea compared to the ones here. i would never pay for this, its fizzy feel and alcohol sting are unpleasant, but as a freebie it approaches passable in its style category.

Poured from 12oz can into a pint glass.
Appearance: light yellow hue with no haze to the body and a very strong effervescence. Head is one finger of frothy white foam which is dissipating quickly. Par for the style.
Smell: sweet and a little grainy with a bit of a plastic aroma worked in. Not the worst in the world, but not particularly good.
Taste: less sweet than the aroma, but still kind of off-putting. Grainy, a little corny, and not wonderful.
Mouthfeel: light body with a big carbonation. Again, par for the style.
Overall: I'm not a big fan of this beer. I've had plenty of cheap fizzy beers in my time, and while Hite Ice Point definitely isn't the worst, it really has nothing to recommend it.

A: Very pale yellow. Barely any color at all. Forms a fizzy white head the comes and goes quickly. No lacing.
S: Corn, rice, and some light grassy hops.
T: Light sweetness. Stewed corn, rice, and even less grassy hops than in the aroma. A bit of apple juice.
M: Lighter bodied. Medium carbonation. Mildly sticky. Virtually non-existent bitterness.
O: Trying to be authentic, I bought a bottle of this at the Korean grocery to go with my Kalbi, Kimchee, and pickles. Not a very impressive beer in the least. Didn't do much for my Kalbi.
