Drank in Schlenkerla's Nurnberg house on the last Friday of November '11 at around 9pm
As such the place was packed and the 5 of us were lucky to pinch the last table in the house!
We only stopped for one and all had the standard Racuh from tap which is always a winner for me!
Other beers available from the likes of Tucher, but I didn't pay too much notice
Great atmosphere inside, dog friendly as we played with one at the neighbouring table whilst drinking
Looks like a big establishment from the picture, but is deceptively small - single room maybe holding 50 to 60 people ? (unless there was an upstairs we missed?)
Food looked good, kitchens at the end of the pub, but we didn't sample

This famous half timbered building is right opposite the Biem Tiergartner Tor entrance into the old town through the city wall, adjacent to Albrech Durer's house. It would take about 25-30 minutes to walk from the main rail station, or get Tram 4 from Plarrer and get off at TierGartnerTor stop, and walk across the bridge over the dry moat towards the Castle.
They serve the famous Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier (smoked beer) that is brewed in Bamberg, and also have Tucher Beers and Erdinger Weiss beers on tap too. Seating outside in fine weather for a large number of people, though the inside is only small with about 6 tables only with seating for 6-8 people at each. Typical wooden panelled walls and warm cosy atmosphere with good service. An English menu of beers and food is available. Food is excellent and good value, though with the place being small, you need to be early to get a seat in the evenings. The smoked beer from Bamberg is the speciality here, and is an acquired taste unless you already know and enjoy it, though I thought it not as smokey tasting as when served from a bottle. Definately worth a visit when in Nuremberg, and there are also two other excellent bars in this immediate area, Hutt'n and Alstadthof which are only couple minutes walk away. Highy recommended and very reasonable prices for beer and food.
Opens Monday-Saturday 11am, closing times 11pm. Not open Sundays.
