The color was very dark brown, black really. The head was a foamy off white with decent retention and lacing was pretty good.

The smell was fantastic. It was like a buttered biscuit with sweet chocolate and aromas of cinnamon and nutmeg.

The taste was a mildly sweet, extremely toasted flavor. There is coffee and chocolate in there as well. There is a touch of bitterness that is by no means harsh or overbearing, but nicely balanced.

It is medium-bodied, a little thin for a porter, but nice. Carbonation was light and tingly. The finish is dry, like a porter should be, and it almost throw you off that the taste is so sweet when you remember that.

This is a delicious brew and a tasty choice. Definitely try it.

Pours dark red with black highlights and small thin head but leaves some lace on the pint.
Aroma of chicaory, coffee beans, chocolate and some sweet oliy hops.
Flavors of coffee dominate a litt bit too much. Just doesn't release many other flavors other than a brief chocolate hint.
Mouthfeel is somewhat thin and watery, little bitt too much like a cup of coffee for me.
Drinkability is solid but just nothing special.

A solid porter offering from Maumee. Poured out to a jet black in the glass with very little head. The aroma was that of a light coffee and chocolate. The taste brought forth a nice roasted malt and was good, but not outstanding. Overall a good porter, but a bit on the thin side.

Great looking beer. Dark. Quite reddish in the light. Thin, crackling tan head. Just as it should, I suppose.

By far the most aromatic of the Maumee brews I sampled today -- kickass mousse-like chocolate aromas. Kind of sweet. A bit surprising then that the flavor is what it is...

The first sip: a bit thin. The last sip: quite thin. But everything in between shared one thing in common -- the roasty toasties! While hardly an "espresso porter" or something in that vein, this certainly has a nice coffee bitterness to it. Balances the chocolate well and really ends up stealing the show. If it were just a bit thicker, this would be a hell of a porter.

The appearance was great. It was dark brown with a beautiful tan head. The head lasted the whole glass. It did get thinner and thinner though.

The smell was of chocolate and coffee. It was a very mild smell with not much hops in the aroma, I prefer this in a porter.

That taste was rich with plenty of roasted coffee flavor with a hint of chocolate to clean it up. This left you with a clean aftertaste.

The mouthfeel was wonderful. It was rich with subtle carbonation to give you just a little tingle as it went down.

A very drinkable and wonderful brew.
