Just as your traditional Irish Ale is, this medium-bodied, malty brew is very smooth. The addition of biscuit and melanoidin malts add a toasty and sweet aroma. Belly up to the bar and have a pint on St. Patty’s Day!

I tried this at the brewery. It poured a dark amber with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had caramel aromas. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with good malt base. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a good beer.

The appearance was a semi-dark amber color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a mild pace. Not much lace. The aroma had some toast, caramel/toffee malts, light floral/citrusy hops, some leather, nuts and a light earthiness at the very end. The flavor blended the prior mentioned aromas together in a malty sweet sort of way. Subtle aftertaste of the malts. Malty dry sort of finish. The palate was almost medium bodied, seemed it sat just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, pretty nice amber ale fairly close in style.

This new offering from Maumee Bay pours from the tap a clear medium red color with a light orange tinted head just over one finger high sitting around for a good while and leaving ample thick, patchy lacing in its wake.
This is a nicely balanced brew, perhaps slightly on the maltier side but well-balanced. The aroma features toasted malts with a touch of sweetness backed by floral hops. Not a stunner but a very good form of a style many BAs shy away from since the style itself is not "extreme" in any way.
The same balance is there in the flavor. This beer is both malty and hoppy, mingling a pleasant mix of toasty and sweet with an herbal note and ample hops, particularly floral but perhaps a touch of citrus element as well.
The body is medium with light to moderate carbonation and the malts giving this one a lift in richness and body.
I don't think this one's phasing out the Fallen Timbers (particularly since that one's an American Red) like Summit Street is taking the place of Glass City (Pale Ale). This one's a better red, though, and proving that MBBC's brewing as a whole is genuinely improving.
