From the growler opened tonight (on tap is from last night's notes), notes are nonetheless the same with exception to appearance.
This beer, clearly (opposite pun?) unfiltered, is an extremely clouded and thick deep amber-orange color. The head, not as weak as I get from the tap, making me wonder if they purposely kill it off sometimes, is a big and fluffy one about 2 fingers tall. It has good retention and leaves patches of lacing thickly before getting spotty.
Apricot is big, and they used a lot, but it doesn't overwhelm the other elements in this beer. Wheat is detectable on the nose, followed by a gentle citrus zest note and hops underneath. I wonder if this isn't Willy's with apricots, but the aroma, at least, is stronger.
The flavor is a good balance between the wheat, the apricot, and a bit of hops for balance. The wheat sets down a solid foundation and a bit of citrus is also present.
Carbonation is moderate, very well suited to the flavor and style. This beer has a crispness but is fuller and smoother than Willy's in a medium body rather than the light (and often weak) body common to the style
