(From notes)
A - Poured with a finger foam of bubblier white head, with great lacing in the sample. Very light, vibrant yellow color. Very appealing in looks.
S - Solid lagery types of aromas, with some yeastiness and a touch of sweet maltiness and a hint of sour (pleasant)
T - Little rough around the edges. Graininess is a little too forward, with some malt sweetness and just a touch of hops in the end.
M - Thinner, but reaches all of the palate. Solid carbonation that holds it together as best as it can with the flavors.
D - OK drinkability, but this brew could be cleaned up a bit. Not as refreshing as others I've had in the style, but OK.
Overall, not a bad example, but has some roughness about its characteristics...kinda like a homebrew. Just OK.

Stadtbrauerei Schwarzenberg Helles
,5l glass for €3,80 at the brewpub on 3 January 2014
Notes: Very hazy gold body beneath a 25mm thick head of tight white froth. The aroma is malty with a light fruitiness and some subtle noble hops. The flavor follows suit with a moderate bitterness that balances but still leaves it malty in the finish. A sweetish, basic beer that fits the hells style (although a touch more hops would be nice). Quite drinkable!

Sampled at the brewpub in late December, it came out a clear deep gold under a 1.5 finger white head that fades fairly quickly to film, but clings heavily to all sides, generating lovely sheets of lace. There's lots of sweet grainy malt in the nose. The mouth is quite well-carbonated and rather heavy, coating the mouth. This is a solid rendition of the style, with mild grain leading to a bit of spicey hops that never quite reach bitter but clears the last vestiges of the grain and leaves a crisp edge in the aftertaste. Worthy.
