Solid amber body with a very rich, creamy, off-white head. Strong caramel malt aroma with a good dose of pine and citrus hop aroma. The taste closely follows the smell with a decent residual hop bitterness at the finish. Medium bodied; coarse on the tongue; dry finish.

Not a bad IPA, it's just nothing special. It's not trying to be a big west coast hop bomb, yet doesn't really grab you with any other distinguishing character. Likeable, drinkable, just not memorable...

Mediocre ipa. Pours amber with thin white head. Nose is very light, smells of sweet malts and grass, and maybe some citrus. Taste too light and sweet for an IPA; further diminished by the light body. Malty, earthy, grass, some light citrus with a light resin on the aftertaste.

Thanks John for bringing this and others back to Florida for me to enjoy. Pours a nice Amber with good amount of head. Great hilly retention but absolutely no carbonation, Weird. Smell is almost non existent. Taste real good but weak for an IPA. Easy drinker but not as aggressive as I expect from out west. I see from the description that this is what they were after so I have to say very well done but not to my liking. Good beginner IPA. 3.75

Received a six pack as a gift while visiting in-laws in Montana.
Copper color, quickly-dissipated head but holds a good carbonated mouth feel. Pine scent rises from bottle when cap is popped off. Up front a pretty mild caramel malt taste, slight resin, orange peel taste really hangs on the finish. Flavors become much more defined as it warms. It's a pretty standard IPA. A good effort. Definitely give it a try.

This interesting IPA stands out from the rest with the beautiful artwork on the label, but has a smooth and subtle taste and feel with light carbonation and hints of fruit. Not enough hops for my taste, but these go down easy and are light and refreshing.

Pours clear orange.. Short lived white head.. Nose is fruity hops with a fair amount of toasty/pale maltiness.. Flavor seems a little spongy.. soft hops and soft maltiness, neither of which combine to make a great IPA.. Perhaps a decent pale ale.. Lighter than needed bitterness to put a stop to the weird fruity element... Decent drinkability for one glass, I won't buy one again until I am again in Montana.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a fine two finger off-white head with great retention and lots of lacing, looks nice. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and grassy hops.Flavor is bready and caramel malt, honey, light grassy and citrus hops, finishes with mild citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. I was a bit underwhelmed by the hop intensity in this, but I really like the rich malt body and the hop flavors are quite pleasant, if rather subdued for an American IPA. I was prepared for a adequate, but unexciting evening with this, but actually thoroughly enjoyed the entire bomber. It reminded me of a well made English style IPA in the hop bill, although the body is standard American. I'd have no hesitation to buy this again if I wasn't in the mood for a hop bomb. This is the second beer I've tried from Great Northern and far superior to my last one; I'll watch for other offerings.

This was a fun gift my brother brought when he visited from Montana.

Great looks from this beer. From the Glacier national park themed label to the perfect clarity rich golden amber color. Nice head leaves a healthy amount of lace.

Pleasing predominantly citrus aromas, with some malty sweetness and even slightly grassy/earthy that reminds me of noble hops in a good Pils.

Flavor is balanced for an IPA but shouldn't be mistaken for a pale ale. Mellow caramel and biscuit malts with the citric and pine hops there but not overpowering. Medium to low bitterness for the style, with a semi-long finish and slick mouthfeel.

A nice and balanced brew that I would buy on occasion if I could find it in Oregon.

Thanks to NWNewhouse for this one! My first added beer. Yay! Poured from 22oz bottle into Jackie O's munich glass.

A - one finger off-white head dissipated into ring and what looks like a profile of Elvis in the middle; amber color with slight cloudiness
S - lots of sweet caramel and bread with some aromatic hops in background
T - toffee and yeast up front with bready malts coming after; not as sweet as aroma suggests; any sweet fades very quickly leaving a somewhat bland bitter hop finish with a little herbal honey(dry though)
M - medium-high fine carbonation; leaves a long drying linger especially on sides of tongue; just a touch of solvent alcohol towards end
D - not really special in any category; could use a bit more character in the hops department; not sure if i could taste the dry-hopping of the "rare glacial hops."
