Pours no head whatsoever on a clear medium straw colored body.
The aroma is a weak grain aroma.
The taste has a mild sweetness at first but balances out nicely.
The texture is crisp and fizzy with a light body.
The appearance and smell are wanting but the taste and texture are fine enough.

In the world of lagers I really like this one.
I saw this in the cold beer section and noticed it was from Tasmania, very cool.
I never had a Tasmanian beer before so I had to buy it.

Crisp and clean enough for this hot florida weather.
I enjoyed it with some steak and onions and it went really well.
The flavor was strong enough to know you were drinking a beer and did not linger around too long.

In a time that is dominated by powerful IPAs and unique tastings brews, this was like a visit from an old friend.

I was just thinking the other day when I bought a 6-pack of James Boag's Premium Lager for $10 "I wonder if I've done a review on the Boag's and Cascade lagers?" turns out I hadn't, and because the beer was so average even though I was at a house party I ended up with a stubbie left over to review, yay!

Poured from a 375ml stubbie into a stein.

A: Clear pale straw bodied with a mighty boisterous and fluffy 1.5 inch white head (I poured this one slowly too) looks like we're in for one hell of a carbonated beer, at least the colour is spot on Euro Pale Lager.

S: Pretty much smack in macro Aussie lager territory here; malt grain base with an adjunct corn aroma and some vegetal matter where the hops generally reside, possibly the much dreaded (or maligned depending on your view) Pride of Ringwood hops.

T: A bit more yeast driven than expected, there are the above notes; malt, corn, vegetal matter, but some bakers yeast is also thrown in for a bit more character. Other than this it has very little to distinguish it from the CUB, Toohey's, XXXX and Cascade lagers. Finishes with an abnormal bitter/corny note [disclaimer: I was not able to drink this ice-cold which is how all macro Aussie lagers are intended to be drunk].

M: Mid to light body, a touch heavier than the VB's and Toohey's New's of this world, with a slightly gassy carbonation.

D: To be honest reader - it is all much for muchness with me when it comes to macro lagers of any kind. None really stand out and this bias may be evident in my reviews, so if you are truly a macro lager drinker I will say this to you "Have you tried all the other beer styles out there?", and if your reply is "Yes, even the Belgian styles" and you still love macro lagers then please by all means take my reviews of them with a grain of salt and enjoy your lager. Me? I'll be sipping a Bière de Garde from a chalice and revelling in its awesomeness.

Food match: Look you're not going to be drinking this with a fine poached lobster tail in a light cream sauce, so really the cuisine this generally pairs with is junk food; pizza, burgers, fries, etc.

330ml bottle served in a pilsen glass.

A: Pours an absolutely clear and very pale yellow color forming a nice medium and bubbled white head. Good retention and lots of lacings left in the glass

S: Strong sweet malts in the nose. Very bready. Light notes of aromatic and grassy hops

T: Follows the nose. Strong notes of malts. Quite crispy and bread. Light hops bitterness in the end

M: Very light body and medium carbonation. Crispy malty aftertaste

O: Good drinkability. Standard Euro Lager, nothing special
