yeah, pretty bland stuff. but not entirely undrinkable.
not much as far as any type of aroma or real beer flavor to it. but i'll give it some slack since it is exactly what it says it is, a light. unfortunately it doesnt try to be anything more than that with hardly any mouthfeel.

Straw/gold pour. Small white head that leaves some lacing.
Aromas are malt, corn, cardboard, solvent and skunk, but not too offensive.
Lemon, slight malt, and astringent bitterness apparent upon tasting.
Heavy carbonation, seems to be the trend amongst macro light lagers.

This beer really disappointed me. I was looking forward to this one as I though James Boags had a pretty good reputation and some pretty funny advertisements which made this one worth a look. Had plenty of these bottles in the fridge at home and drastically disappointed. This was strange; it started off well, or at least fine but then really deteriorated to the extent that I did not want to finish this one. Appearance is not necessarily terrible but is not my type, was way too carbonated and for a brewer that claims to make completely pure beer, the premium light had too much additives for mine. The taste and mouthfeel is really not something that you want to drink, I would advise you to avoid and try out other James Boags or Cascade for Tasmanian Lager.

A standard lager with a very, very light taste. Pours a very pale yellow with a light head. Did I mention it goes a bit light on the flavor? It does have mild notes of citrus, but not in a bad way as I've experienced with some other Aussie lagers.
Crisp and refreshing enough, simple and straightforward. Good enough if you're in the mood for a light (light!) lager.

Found this bad boy in the fridge after some party my partner hosted. 375 ML
A-- Poured a goldish yellow color. Reminds me of a Monster Energy Drink. Cloud white head that died off but left some sticky lacing. Well carbonated.
S-- Do not get a lot of smell. Some husk, malt and some hops. Faint bit of carmel.
T-- MMM San Pelegrino?? That ring a bell?? Ok, not a lot to this. A little bit of carmel and a lot of carbonation.
M-- Does have some sugar in this as it is a little sweet. Does also have some hops, get a bit of a citrus-lemon feel in my mouth. Pretty well carbonated.
D-- Very drinkable. Ok, it is 2.9% and it is for an intended purpose. Not a lot to the beer and nor should there be on a premium light. Actually decent for a light lager. Mouthfeel made up for the bad taste and the smell of the beer. Is it something I might have again? Probably not. Would I suggest it to somebody who is after a light lager?? That I would. Same story with Lagers in this country. Drink before it gets warm. Then it is total crap. If Boags could improve on the smell and taste of this beer it would be quite worthwhile. But that is the issue with light beers.

Frothy head, which holds well & persists, leaving a nice lace.
Pale gold, but not much of a bead.
Sulfury grain notes, soft hop at the back.
Palette initially has promise, but falls away with no mid/back palate. Very dry finish...watery, no body, but some bitterness.

Pours a clear gold colour with light bead. Head is thin, whispy white cloud. Nice trails of lace. Not bad, bit meh apart from the lace.
Smells grainy and bland. Lots of pearl barley, wheat husks and light honey. Sweet, grainy and incredibly boring.
Taste is not a great deal better, although it is a bit better. Grainy, with adjuncty notes of corn mostly. No real development, just mild metallic hop on the finish with more of a physical drying sensation than real hop flavour. Sweet, honey, insipid beer. Meh.
Thin, fizzy, yet flat and uninteresting overall.
Not a great beer. In fact, a bad beer. Boring and flavourless and insipid. Don't bother.

Pours a dull golden colour, sparkling and perfectly clear, with a musty, mushroom-crud head of pocked white bubbles on the top of the beer. It leaves weird speckled lacing that almost looks like ice crystals. Unsurprisingly light body. Eh.
Nose is sweet and cerealy, with cornflake aromas coming out strongly, along with a hint of partially processed sugar. Slight green funk to it, but overall, it's so flat and lifeless.
Taste is almost flavourless. There's a slight metallic bitter twinge on the back, and more of that wet cornflake character coming through. Oddly, the aftertaste almost gives a hint of mint, which is weird, but also so mild that I might be imagining it.
Feel is flat, empty and as light as I expected.
Really, weak. Even weak for a light beer. There are so few redeeming characters to the style, and when you even omit them, you end up with a pretty appalling beer.

Given that one , under normal circumstances, would normally not want to drink Light beer, there is a reduced expectation of what you are about to consume.
Boags doesnt begin to inspire one to think that this is a Light that changes that mind set.
It is however a "better" Light. Its colour is paler than most and it has a detectable level of malt that is balanced by a crisp finish.
It is cleansing and refreshing and is at least drinkable.
In that most abhorent of suituations where I have to drink Light , this is the one for me.

A - Pours a clear golden beer with a centimetre of fluffy white head that falls away fairly quickly.
S - Sweetish grainy notes with some herbal, grasyy hints.
T - Very much the same as the smell but with some light caramel also coming through.
M - Suprisingly not as light as what I thought it may be. Actually retains some beery flavour.
D - I guess if you need to be drinking light beer it's OK.

Appearance - 3.0
Pours a finger of loose white head over a clear body of pale gold.
Smell - 2.0
Not much to speak of here, a little skunk faded early leaving a weak, dry husky whiff.
Taste - 2.0
Very little flavour whatsoever, which is to be somewhat expected for a beer of 2.9%. A little grain, husk, corn and metal, minimal bitterness and dry in the finish.
Mouthfeel - 3.0
Thin and watery, asprin-like carbonation. For anything but a light beer this would be very disappointing.
Drinkability - 3.0
Driver friendly alcoholic strength is the only thing that helps this dull brew go down.
OVERALL - 2.4
Inoffensive but typically bland low alcohol lager.
