This is one of the first craft beers I enjoyed on my own after breaking in with some other gateway stuff. I'll really just be adding to my early review with the obvious differences from the nitro can.

This beer possesses great clarity, brown with a deep red hue. The head is just under one finger high but thick and rich enough to sustain itself and leave some pretty nice lacing behind.
There are some really bread-like malts in the nose, almost "doughy," with a peat-like note as well. There's a nice balance from a soft but sturdy earthy hops presence.
The taste is strongly malty, with smoky, earthy and woody tones and hints of caramel balanced nicely by an herbal, earthy hops flavor. This isn't a huge kick-in-the-face brew, but I really like that it doesn't need to be huge to be flavorful. I also like wee heavy styled scotch ales, but I like that I can turn to something softer, and this is a great one.
The nitro really pulls through in the mouthfeel. This brew is medium-bodied with an extremely creamy smooth flow to it. This is about as smooth as it gets.
Given a low ABV, smoothness, and ease with which it goes down, this is as drinkable as it gets.

A: Very clear deep amber color with a moderate creamy white head that settles to a layer of bubbles. Great lacing on the glass as you drink.
S: Bready, nutty, some toffee and other roasted barley sweetness. Light fruit esters as well.
T: Fresh brown bread, toffee, caramel, light esters of cherry like flavor, mild hop bitterness to keep the sweetness from totally running away. Mild earthy hop flavor as well. The finish is on the dry side and sweet.
M: Medium body with tiny crisp carbonation and a dry finish. No warming from alcohol.
O: Very clean and fresh tasting with some slight estery flavors and low on the smoky flavors with this Scottish Ale. Well done and easy to drink! I would get this again.
