Appearance: Nice reddish brown color with a thick light tan head, lots of sticky lace that clings to the walls of the glass; mildly carbonated.
Aroma: Pleasant aroma of bread, floral, and earthy notes.
Taste: Roasted malt flavors are very prominent in the taste, also nuts, mild earth and smoke flavors as well. Very smooth with some mild hops at the finish.
Mouth feel: Pleasant, just a touch thin.
Drinkability/notes: A very nicely balanced beer. A number of reviewers have praised this ale in the nitro version; this review was based on a 500 mL glass bottle. I suspect that the nitro version is even better.

Just had this in a nitro can for the first time. It is remarkable, if you're a fan of Scottish ales. (Some of us just don't like hops much.) I like it much better than the bottled version. Reminds me of the rich, creamy Belhavens Best, which is on tap at most Scottish pubs, but doesn't seem to be exported.
Wish it were a little lower alcohol, so you could drink more of it without getting too buzzed.
